PRAYER OF THE FAITHFUL - HOLY THURSDAY

Presider:

My brothers and sisters on this night, as we l begin the great Pascal Triduum let us pray for the church, for the world in which we live, and for the courage to follow the call of Jesus to serve all her brothers and sisters as we cry out: (sung)

Lector:

  1. That the church, the People of God, that we may be models of loving, humble service in this our world.....

That the poor, the hungry, those who have no home, those still yearning for freedom in war-torn areas, those who are refugees ..... May they know the presence of God through the loving service offered them.....

That we might be imaginative and creative and humble in our service to others, especially those we least want to serve......

For the ministries of service in this our parish and for all the intentions in our parish book...... We pray......

  1. That all who are ill might be strengthened by our prayer and come soon to the fullness of health: ...... especially AJ Barr, Isabella Leone, James Martinek, Laurel Hessing, William Florian, Baby Lupita Flores Gonzalez, Amelia Jalandoni, Baby Hewitt-Campbell, Mary Sullivan, Laura Moore Brown, Marguerite LaMarque, Bob Cerf, John Palazza, … and all those wounded in the service of our country,..... that they be patient in their time of suffering and soon come to the fullness of health....we pray....

3. And may all who have died, especially those dear to us, live forever in the embrace of the one true God....we pray.....

Especially all those in whose memory the Church has been made beautiful for the celebration…

4.And let us pause now to present our own personal petitions...(PAUSE ....count to 10)...... We are still a nation at war, let us pray for our president, and all our elected officials, the members of our diplomatic corps (core) and all those who serve our country in our uniformed services..... may their efforts for peace and justice be fruitful;..... together, let us raise our voices in a prayer for true and lasting peace......

the words are found on the back cover of the hymnal...

Presider:

Loving God,

your only Son washed the feet of his disciples

and calls on us to do the same for others.

Graciously hear these prayers

and grant us the grace to live as he did,

through the same Christ

who is our Lord and Passover for ever and ever.
