PPSC is pleased to announce that the My Script My Choice patient petition website, sponsored by the Florida Independent Pharmacy Network (FIPN), Florida Pharmacy Association (FPA) and PPSC is operational and ready for you to discuss with your patients.
The purpose of the website is to enable your patients to submit an electronic petition to Florida state legislators about the importance of having the right to choose the pharmacy of their choice rather than health plans or PBMs directing them to mail order or pharmacies owned or preferred by the PBM.
Now that the My Script My Choice website is up it is critical that you talk with your patients about the campaign and get them involved. We suggest you take the following action steps:
Take a moment, go to the website, and familiarize yourself and staff with the website and how patients enter their name, email address and zip code and “click” the Submit button.
Talk with your patients, explain how health plans and PBMs are restricting their current or future choice of a pharmacy and ask them to send the petition to legislators if they are concerned.
Consider having a computer (e.g., desktop, laptop or i-Pad) available in your pharmacy for patients to review and complete the My Script My Choice petition.
“Click” on the My Script My Choice icon on the PPSC Home Page on the websiteto print out My Script My Choice flyers (four to a page) for distribution to your patients.
Stuff or staple the My Script My Choice handouts to prescription bags, place them by the prescription department or cash registers, and hand them out when counseling patients.
Research your computer files to identify State of Florida employees, retirees and dependents and members of other health plans that have instituted mandatory mail order requirements restricting member choice and discuss the petition with them.
There is much work yet to do to bring this important issue before state legislators and implement needed changes to preserve patient choice of their pharmacy. Get involved, tell your colleagues and talk with your patients.
