8th Grade FinalGroup Project for Computer Technology

Your team is now organized into an electronics company, similar but smaller than Best Buy. One member of the team is the President, one member is the Vice President, one member is the Administration Officer, and all of the membersare Research Officers. The President will assign each member a task eitherto develop a PowerPoint, Publisheror Excel product showing information about five types of electronic equipment: TV, cell phone, MP3 player (or IPOD), camera, and computer (laptop or desktop). All students will research on the internet! You must try to find the “best buy” meaning the best quality at the lowest cost for each type of electronic equipment! Your team is to complete the following activities with the information you research on the internet.

1st ~Name your electronics Company (team) and the President e-mails it to Ms. Becker.

2nd ~Research and collect information from the Internet about the five types of electronic equipment listed above.You will find four items about each of the five types of electronic equipment. The four items are: Make, Model, Price, and Description. Record this information as you complete the research.

3rd~ Develop anExcel spreadsheet and chart depicting the five types of electronic equipment, the four items: Make, Model, Price, and Description and a chart with Make, Model AND Price with a custom header that has all team members’ names and a custom footer with the date and time. The spreadsheet and chart must fit on ONE page.

4th~After your research is done,develop aPublisher brochure depicting the five types of electronic equipment, pictures, and why you chose those items. Use both pages of the brochure with background color, shapes on each page, and your team and member names on the front of your brochure.

5th ~ After your research is done, develop a presentation using PowerPoint, Prezi, or Photo Story following the requirements below.

All members of the team should conduct portions of the research by using some of the following internet resources to collect information about one TV, one cell phone, one MP3 player (or IPOD), one camera, and one computer:

Presentation Guidelines:

Slide 1 – Title slide must include the name of your electronics company, team member names, and at least 3 different color shapes that get attention for people to buy electronics.

Slides 2-6 – On each of these slides, put the four items you researched about each of the five electronic pieces of equipment and a picture of each of the five.

Slide 7 – Add the Excel chart to this slide and a comparison of the price; name which item is the most expensive and which is the “best buy”.

Slide 8 – References, including all web sites where you found information and pictures.

Requirements for your presentation:

  • There must be transitions, movement and background colors on all slides/screens.
  • Pictures must be used on slides 2-6.
  • Word Art must be used on at least four slides.
  • Various font sizes and colors must be used throughout the presentation.
  • Shapes with various colors must be added to at least four slides.
