Essential Job Duties

The Juvenile Restitution & Teen Court Coordinator is a member of North Carolina Cooperative Extension. This position is funded through Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) community allocations. The Juvenile Restitution & Teen Court Program Coordinator has primary responsibility for performing intermediate human support work coordinating the Teen Court Program, arranging the schedules for managing youth offenders, juvenile community service hours, youth and volunteers, developing and maintaining Teen Court & Juvenile Restitution budget and financial reports, preparing and maintaining files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Leadership is provided to volunteers.

Other Work/Responsibilities

 Receives referrals from School Resource Officers (SRO), law enforcement, Juvenile Court Counselors, and District Court to identify participants for Greene County Teen Court & Juvenile Restitution programs.

 Schedules and conducts intake meetings with juvenile offenders and families to determine their eligibility to participate in the program(s).

 Coordinates Teen Court sessions; organizes and completes related paperwork.

 Secures appropriate and safe work sites for performing community service.

 Monitors performance of community service hours.

 Recruits and trains volunteers in basic and advance court room duties including jury, clerk, bailiff, prosecuting and defense attorneys.

 Schedules and monitors youth volunteers.

 Prepares correspondence to update referral sources.

 Develops and implements policies and procedures in accordance with State regulations as needed.

 Attends and participants in JCPC and program related committee meeting: attends Statewide conferences to keep abreast of changes in the program(s).

 Prepares and submits grant applications, monitors funding.

 Prepares and monitors program budget and financial reports, monitors expenditures.

 Purchases supplies and maintains inventories.

 Prepares and summits various status reports for JCPC, Cooperative Extension, Finance, etc.:

 Presents Teen Court & Juvenile Restitution Program reports, proposals and program agreements to JCPC.

 Participates in the North Carolina Teen Court Association (NCTCA) and the North Carolina Association for Juvenile Restitution Programs (NCACRP), including coordinating and attending
conferences for both youth and fellow juvenile services colleagues.

Minimum Experience/Education

The minimum requirement for employment with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service (NCCES) is a high-school diploma or equivalent. Advanced training in related fields is preferred.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Graduation from a two year college or vocational/technical school with course emphasis in human relations and/or youth development or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.

Required License or Certification

Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required and must be maintained.
