POSTGRADUATE SUPPORTING FELLOWSHIP (PSF) GUIDELINE

1.0THE FELLOWSHIP

The Postgraduate Supporting Fellowship (PSF) has been established to promote postgraduate studies at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This Fellowshipis made available by Dana Kecemerlangan Pendidikan UiTM intended to establish UiTM as a research-intensive university (Shah Alam 1 Campus) as outlined in the University’s Research & Innovation Policy.

The Fellowship aspires to develop human resource as well as provide encouraging impact on the society through research activities. PSF complements current efforts introduced by UiTM to enhance the University’s Key Performance Indicator (KPI)based on the Malaysian Research Assessment Instrument (MyRA).

2.0PURPOSE

The purpose of UiTM’s PSF is to assist postgraduate students by providing financial assistance during theperiod of their studies.

3.0ELIGIBILITY OF THE APPLICANTS

The PSF application should be made bya Vanguard Researcher who fulfils the following criteria:

A member of a Research Excellence Entity (Tier 4 or 5)
An active national/private/international grant holder
Has engaged a postgraduate who is:
A Malaysian citizen
Enrolled into full time PhD or Masters (research mode) programme with an official offer issued by the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPSis) UiTM
Not gainfully employed at the time of enrolment in the course of study
Not bea recipient of any scholarship or financial assistance from any organisation to fund the course of study as stated in the PSF application form.

4.0DURATION OF FELLOWSHIP & MyBrain15 SCHOLARSHIP

5.1The duration of the Fellowship will be for a period of 12 months for both PhD and Masters (Research Mode) subject to review after six months.

5.2UiTM PSF holders shall apply for the MyBrain15 scholarship offered by the Ministry of Education, Malaysiawithin the first six months of the Fellowship.

5.0FUNDING SCOPE

The total amount of money which will be disbursed under the PSF fund will be based on the progressive performance of the Vanguard’s (Supervisor) research project. The ceiling for PhD support is RM25,600.00 and for Masters is RM22,000.00.

a)Vote 11000 (Salary and wages paid to Research Assistant)

Salary and wages can only be made to one (1) Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) with the maximum allowable rate RM1,800/month for PhD and RM1,500/month for Masters.

b) Vote 29000

Up to a maximum amount of RM2,000.00for publications in impact factor journals indexed byThomson Reuters or SCOPUS. A sum of RM2,000.00 per annum from the project cost will be allocated for administrative purposes to be used by RMI.

6.0EXPECTED OUTCOME OF FELLOWSHIP

The minimum expected outcome per Fellowship is one (1) full paper in any impact factor journalsindexed by Thomson Reuters or SCOPUS.

7.0APPROVAL PROCESS

7.1All applications must be made using the latest application form which is available online at

7.2The completed forms and relevant supporting documents should be uploaded for

submission through the Integrated RMI Services (iRMIS).

7.3Successful applicants are to complete the acceptance form andsubmit to RMI together with the approval letter before embarking on the project.

7.4A progress report is to be submittedwithin the first four (4) months.

7.5RMI will issue the confirmation of research completion upon receiving the final report.
