2016 HISTORY
In 2016 3 R2MR Train the Trainers were identified and trained at the OAFC sponsored training program. The candidates were successful and certified to teach the R2MR.
CIRT Team Refresher and Peer Support Training completed
The Trainers successfully completed 15 training sessions, delivering the 8 hour program to 206 staff from all divisions.
All Staff attended annual Leadership and Safety Workshop on Occupational Disease
2 trainers delivered R2MR to approximately 24 attendees at a recent conference on September 9, 2016 in Anytown.
Anytown (AFR) was not asked to deliver R2MR to any other departments in 2016.
2017 PTSD PREVENTION PLAN
Anytown Fire Rescue will engage in the following activities and initiatives to advance the mental health resilience of all its members.
Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) will meet and review 2016 activities.
CIRT will identify the need for additional members and fill as required.
CIRT training will be scheduled for 1st quarter 2017.
All AFR staff will attend leadership and safety workshop February 2017.
PTSD Prevention Program will be reviewed annually by the Occupational Health and Safety. (1st quarter 2017)
R2MR Instructors will coordinate and schedule the 4 hour R2MR training program as a refresher 1st quarter of 2017.
Safetalk Suicide Awareness Program will be refreshed and delivered 2nd quarter of 2017 for all staff.
AFR will share 2017 PTSD Prevention Plans with Town of Anytown Human Resources Division.
R2MR instructors, the CIRT leader and the Training Division will provide a written report to the Fire Chief prior to Corporate Budget consultations ( September 2017). The report will identify recommended PTSD Prevention Plan activities the upcoming year and financial implications to facilitate budget requests.
Review of the Accommodated Return to Work policies with District Chiefs and Division Chiefs
FINANCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Fire will include in the 2018 AFR budget submission, the expected costs for the PTSD Prevention Plan.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the 2017 Anytown Fire Rescue PTSD Prevention Plan be accepted by the Ministry of Labour and be implemented as described.
