JOB DESCRIPTION
POST TITLE: Neighbourhood Caretaker (The Heyes)
GRADE: 3
DEPARTMENT: Jigsaw Environmental Services Housing and Neighbourhood Management
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide a friendly neighbourhood caretaker service on behalf of residents of the Heyes and other sheltered accommodation schemes from time to time
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Identify and report repairs needed to the communal areas
· Support tenant in identifying repairs that need to be reported to CSC and keep tenant updated with progress
· Check lighting (including emergency lighting) across the estate and replace light bulbs as required
· Maintain a visible presence on the estate and keep the area clean and tidy
· Test Lifts
· Weekly Fire Alarm tests and updates for Fire Log book
· Update weekly checks list for Health & safety requirements, including visual inspection of whole estate and water testing for legionella purposes
· Put bins out for collection and keep bin areas in a clean condition
· Clean general needs flats communal areas on fortnightly basis or as required
· Carry out minor repairs including adjusting doors, repairing door locks, taps, replacing toilet seats.
· Read utility meters and report to LHT
· Assist tenants with minor odd jobs e.g. hanging curtains, or pictures, changing light bulbs, etc.
· Provide a service to other schemes when required and attend two schemes on a monthly basis to clean out bins.
· To undertake any such additional duties of a similar nature as directed by Jigsaw neighbourhood services team.
