Post: Site Supervisor - Security

Responsible to: Estates Manager

Co-ordinates with: Colleagues within the Estates

Department and across college

Summary of Responsibilities:

To play a key role in maintaining the security, safety, and upkeep of all college buildings, grounds and facilities under the direction of the Estates Manager.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

1.  To maintain the overall security arrangements of the premises including ensuring that all staff, visitors (lettings) and contractors are aware of the procedures on security, that there is an appropriate system of key holding management, that periodic reviews of site security are conducted and that appropriate progress action is followed through.

2.  To undertake banking and postal duties as requested.

3.  To take delivery of goods and undertake porterage duties including the movement of equipment and furniture as required.

4.  To undertake regular inspections of the site and report significant defects.

5.  To undertake routine maintenance minor repairs and refurbishment of premises, fixtures and fittings as necessary.

6.  To monitor the operation of all premises related heating, ventilation and water systems including meter readings and to ensure appropriate action to ensure safe levels of lighting, heating and ventilation are maintained.

7.  To undertake periodic checking of the fire alarm system and equipment as detailed in the Fire Safety Log book.

8.  To ensure college is open and locked for letting requirements as appropriate. To manage security and operational requirements including layout and equipment in conjunction with the lettings coordinator.

9.  To undertake routine maintenance of the minibus.

10. To undertake minibus-driving duties as requested.

11. To liaise with colleagues to ensure smooth shift handover and service provision is maintained at all times.

12. To assist the Cleaning Supervisor in first line monitoring in respect of cleaning of buildings and grounds.

13. To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for the department.

14. To embrace and embed the college core values in daily undertaking of duties.

15. To remain an ambassador for the college at all times.

Summary of Main Terms and Conditions

Salary / Point 21-26 of the Sixth Form Colleges Support staff pay spine (Currently £17,768-£20,717 per annum)
Working Hours / The post is full-time, all year round and will require attendance at college 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to work 7.5 hours per day with a variety of shifts, shifts will usually be 2pm until 10pm, but some flexibility in the hours worked may be required.
Pension Scheme / You will be auto enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme.
Safeguarding / The Blackpool Sixth Form College is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students, staff and visitors. All posts, including volunteers, are subject to enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.
Payment / Your salary will be paid on the last working day of each month by BACS transfer.
Health / Appointments to the college are subject to satisfactory health clearance. You will be required to complete a health questionnaire and may be asked to attend a medical.
References / Two references will be required on application; one must be your most recent employee. Should we not receive these references when requested from the referee you may be asked to follow these up or provide an alternative referee.
Probation period / The post is subject to the successful completion of a 12 month probation period. You will have 3 monthly reviews to assess your progress and set targets.
