POST OF LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE(LRC) FACILITATOR: INDEPENDENT LEARNING& HE LIAISONP/T

JOB PURPOSE

Facilitation of independent learning services, including supporting student and staff access to the full range of resources and e-resourcesacross College Study Areas

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Work proactively to equip students with transferable information skills, including digital literacy skills, to support lifelong learning and knowledge acquisition

Assist with development of the LRC area of the Virtual Learning Environment fit for 24/7 independent learning, including HE

Help develop and promote traditional / e-resources and information skills to both students and staff, including HE student liaison

Ensure maximum use is made of technology and its associated resources within the LRC, and wider college as appropriate, assisting with training staff in discoverability / access and supporting students in the acquisition of digital literacy skills in class, small groups and one to one sessions

Keep up to date with new developments in information literacy and learning resources to ensure an efficient, effective service offer which makes best use of emerging technologies and supports learners in realising their aspirations

Act as facilitator to student learning by guiding, advising and informing students on an individual and group basis and supporting students in the acquisition of the skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to their particular disciplines, levels and learning programmes

Develop knowledge and understanding of specific curriculum / subject areas in order to pro-actively engage with curriculum staff to provide expertise in selection and acquisition of resources, ensuring students’ study needs are met

Work with manager to measure impact of services, develop quality measures, maintain statistical records and write / update reports, as required

Undertake a variety of administrative and clerical duties / tasks associated with the LRC and its resources, as required

Maintain a disciplined environment conducive to independent learning and the acquisition of knowledge and skills

Provide LRC counter service as part of a highly efficient team to ensure smooth day to day operation of the LRC, including appropriate supervision of students

Assist with ensuring that the supported workplace and associated equipment is maintained in a clean, safe condition

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Hours:21 hours per week 40 weeks per year, to include evening cover

Holidays:In 40week posts, you are not eligible to take leave during this period; the value of your leave is added to your salary.

Salary:Scale £17373- £19317 pro rata per annum. Actual salary £8520-£9773
