JOB PURPOSE:

To work with the Executive Director: Strategy and Planning and the Strategic Analyst to enhance the way the University carries key aspects of data analysis, planning and statutory returns. This role is aimed at graduates with a desire to develop an expertise in data analysis, report writing, presenting information and project managing large statutory returns. This role will work closely with Strategic Analyst, providing accurate and meaningful information to inform strategic decision making and thereby making a positive contribution to the University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with the Strategic Analyst, the Executive Director: Strategy and Planning, the Vice Chancellor and her team:

  1. Assist with the reporting of progress against the University’s Strategic Plan, including the development and maintenance of Progress and Risk Indicators.
  2. Assist with the administration, analysis and reporting related to the annual National Student Survey, the UK Engagement Survey, and the Postgraduate Taught Engagement Survey.
  3. Working with the Strategic Analyst, support the range of Management Information that is available to staff to inform the targeting of strategies and actions.
  4. Assist with the project management of key statutory returns.
  5. Help to ensure the smooth running of the planning process and accurate information that informs key decisions.
  6. Increase the understanding of external league tables.
  7. Assist with the compilation of the analysis of students’ entry profiles to inform the annual review of entry requirements.
  8. Assist with the analysis of the University’s key competitors to inform marketing strategies.
  9. Assist with the analysis of sector trends, identifying the subjects that are growing in demand and therefore informing future academic portfolio developments.
  10. Support the activities associated with analysing and monitoring activities and resourcing related to the University’s Access Agreement.
  11. Assist with information requests that broaden understanding of the University’s current performance on a range of issues by providing data and statistical analyses on a wide range of topics.
  12. Assist with the maintenance and development of the Data Analysis and Intelligence System (DAISY) in Tableau so that intelligence is widely accessed across the University community.
  13. Assist with the preparation of documentation and briefings ahead of meetings of the Vice Chancellor and her team.
  14. Engage with sector-specific and professional networks, attending events as appropriate, to undertake professional development and build beneficial relationships.
  15. Produce analysis, reports and presentations for senior managers.
  16. Ensure that equality and diversity issues are integrated into University strategies and action plans.
