POSITION TITLE:Upper School Athletic Director

POSITION STATUS: Exempt, FT, 12 month

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field
  2. Master’s Degree preferred.
  3. 5+ years of successful teaching or school leadership experience.
  4. At least 3 years of head varsity coaching experience.
  5. Physically able to perform assigned duties

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in coordination and scheduling of Athletic related events. Must have excellent organizational skills. Must be people and team oriented. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to perform public speeches. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time. Must be passionate about athletics and able to recognize that students need to learn a balance of healthy mind, body, and spirit and reiterate the importance of sportsmanship in all aspects of sport.

  1. Performance Responsibilities
  2. Provide leadership in ensuring that the athletic program’s goals contribute to the mission, vision and core values of the school.
  3. Advocate the educational goals and vision of athletics through effective communication with students, parents, coaches, community, and school administration and with athletic department at the Lower School.
  4. Assure that the school is in compliance with all Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) rules and regulations. Assure that Holy Trinity competes for all “awards” programs within the FHSAA.
  5. Interface with the school administration, staff, students, and parents in establishing, implementing, and supporting policies, as well as, enforcing the rules and regulations of our academy and those of FHSAA.
  6. Supervise the scheduling of all high school athletic contests assuring that referees are scheduled for home contests and taking into account the specific needs of the sport and the school calendar.
  7. Oversee entire athletic inventory, ensuring that proper uniforms and equipment are available for each sport.
  8. Identify and recommend for hiring and for dismissal coaches for each sport.
  9. Provide written policies, orientation and regular evaluation for each member of the coaching staff and assure that the coaching staff supports the school’s mission, vision and core values.
  10. Assure the health and safety of all athletes, including scheduling appropriate medical personnel for home contests.
  11. Assure that adequate administrative oversight is arranged for all home contests.
  12. Direct coaches on protocols for media contact and reporting of athletic contest information.
  13. Work with the Communications and Special Events Coordinator on all publicity and branding opportunities.
  14. Assure that transportation is appropriately scheduled for all Academy events and that all transportation requirements are followed. Supervise all athletic department bus drivers and ensure that vehicle maintenance is performed on a routine basis for all buses in the Athletic Department fleet.
  15. Provide leadership in facilitating budget preparation and needs for all interscholastic program areas. Assure that all budget requests are submitted to the Business Manager for authorization before purchasing. Collaborate with the Advancement Department on all athletic department fundraising events.
  16. Coordinate and maintain, with the facilities department and ancillary programs, outside rental group needs or set-up requests for indoor and outdoor athletic facilities.
  17. Recommend needed maintenance and repairs to athletic facilities and fields to the Facilities Manager.
  18. Serve as primary liaison to the school Athletic Booster program.
  19. Teach a class and/or coach if requested by the Head of Upper School.
  20. Maintain the Holy Trinity website athletic calendar and all other athletic website required by the Florida High School Athletic Association, Florida Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and Florida Athletic Coaches Association.
  21. Supervise the part-time Junior High School Athletic Director and the part-time Assistant Athletic Director.
  22. Performs all other duties as requested.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, bend, squat, reach, lift, carry, push or pull light weights.
