Work Schedule: Full-time; Work pattern varies depending upon workflow.

JOB SUMMARY:

Fabricates wooden crates in which to ship products using woodworking handtools and power tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Fabricates wooden crates in which to ship products using woodworking handtools and power tools.
  1. Reads specifications provided by Packaging Lead in order to determine crate size.
  1. Saws materials to size using handsaws and powered saws.
  1. Assembles materials using stapling gun.
  1. Assists in loading window products into crates.
  1. May assist in writing order number and recipient address on outside of packaged and boarded crate.
  1. At end of shift, cuts wood pieces to size for use in fabrication of the following day’s crates.
  1. Keeps work area clean and tidy and free of sawdust.
  1. On average, the Crater builds 20 crates each day.
  1. Begins work shift with flex/stretch conditioning program.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  1. Punch time clock before and after shift to record time worked.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:High School Graduate/GED.

Experience:No experience required.

Knowledge: Must be able to read, write and perform basic math skills as job duties require.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands:Must have good communication skills and be able to interact with people.Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance. Must be quality and safety conscious, and a team player. Frequently stands and walks for extended periods on concrete surface while performing regular duties. Static standing may occur for brief periods of up to 10 minutes; but for the most part worker is walking short distances ranging from 1 to 30 feet in crate making and packaging area. Must be able to work quickly with product and be able to lift and carry 10 to 65 pounds maximum.Carrying distances are very short and need only to be moved approximately 10 feet. Heavy crates filled with window products are moved using a forklift.

Ability to frequently push/pull, bend at the waist and neck, kneel/squat, twist, complete repetitive arm movements and grasp (poser and pinch) tomeet the physical demands characteristic of this job. Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to concentrate for sustained periods.

Working Conditions: Extensive standing, frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and walking. Extreme weather conditions.

Equipment/Tools Used: Staple gun, vertical saw, stand-up vertical saw, chop saw, various sizes of wood and writing utensil. Required personal protective equipment including but not limited to:Hardhat, gloves, earplugs, goggles, safety shoes (steel toe shoes) and back brace.

Safety: Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals.

Required to wear or use personal protectiveequipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe

working conditions.

Comply with all legislative requirements as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety Act and

regulations.
