An exciting Temporary Part-Time (6 months to 1 year maternity leave) opportunity as a Mental Health Therapist exists in the Women’s Mental Health Program, reporting to the Clinical Director.

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

Overall goal: To assess and implement short-term trauma focused psychotherapy to referred patients.

Patient Assessment:

·  Comprehensive mental health assessment with a focus and expertise in assessment of trauma symptoms and trauma history.

·  Develops formulation of assessment findings and may independently determine the suitability of clients for psychotherapy or recommend more appropriate resources.

·  To seek consultation with other team members and participate in team discussion regarding assessments and treatment when required.

Care Planning:

·  Develop an intervention plan in collaboration with patients, families, significant others and the interdisciplinary team, based upon identified needs.

·  Document intervention plan according to specific hospital and professional standards.

Interventions:

·  Provide individual, couples, and group therapy / treatment using the principles of women’s centred health care and drawing upon recognized psychotherapy models including some of the following: cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, staged trauma therapy, interpersonal process, couples therapy and crisis intervention.

·  Consult and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.

Team and Program Development:

·  Participate in program development, student education and research as required in a fully affiliated academic setting within the University of Toronto.

·  Participate in personal professional development.

Qualifications/Skills:

·  Masters Degree.

·  Must be a member in good standing of a mental health professional organization.

·  Minimum of 3 years experience providing psychotherapy to women and men suffering from mental illness including mood and anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder and dissociative disorders.

·  Skilled at giving and receiving feedback to interdisciplinary team members in an open productive manner.

·  Experience and comfort in participating in peer supervision.

·  Knowledge of community resources and discharge planning.
