Position Summary (Summarize the key purpose and role in the organization of the job.)

The Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating Company resources and directing daily operations towards achieving the Company’s business plan objectives. The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director and assists the Executive Director in the administration of core business functions.

Education:
BA/BS inPublic Administration, Finance, Marketing, Risk Management, Human Resources, Management or insurance (business) related field.
Experience:
The successful candidate will have worked for commercial property/casualty and workers’ compensation insurance companies or agencies, with significant experience in one or more of the following areas: business plan implementation, meeting planning, loss control, claims administration, customer service, (more)

Technical Skills/Knowledge: The next two section need attention, especially to ensure meeting all legal requirements (e.g. ADA and other non-discriminatory issues)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other primary programs.
-General knowledge of municipal and county operations and their related exposures.
-Working knowledge of primary insurance functions to include underwriting, claims and finance/accounting.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
-The majority of time will be spent in an office environment.
-Ability to hear and see within normal ranges with or without corrective appliances.
-Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including but not limited to personal computer, calculator, telephone, photocopier, etc.
-Ability to travel including overnight stays.Travel may be required especially within Wisconsin.

Budget responsibility:$1.5 million (WMMIC’s administrative expense budget for 2008)
Principal Accountabilities: / Include in each statement what the accountability is, how it is accomplished and the expected outcome of the accountability.
Accountabilities:
  1. Administrate the core daily business activities essential for achieving WMMIC’s annual business plan and the critical delivery of member services for a fundamentally sound public entity Mutual. This includes the support and coordination of management activities of the Executive Director including execution and monitoring of annual business plans.

  1. Assist in the management and evaluation of data for Company operating ratios and budget activities.

  1. Oversee the collection, review and maintenanceof Company data necessary for development of outside actuarial opinions or rate reviews, audit evaluations or reinsurance submissions. This may include statistical data, loss information, and exposure data, underwriting information or other pertinent pooling information.

  1. Undertake first review and/or development of all WMMIC promotional data as prepared by WMMIC for Company operations. E.g. marketing information, annual reports or general communications.

  1. Coordinate (or delegate the coordination to the appropriate person or parties) regularly scheduled operations meetings and be responsible for development and distribution of all resulting notes and action plan activities.

  1. Primary responsibility for the management and coordination of a WMMIC program central records and data retention system. This will include all WMMIC contracts, manuals, procedures, service provider operations, vendor reports, risk management and loss control activities and any other core data that may be in hard copy of electronic file status.

  1. Coordination and assistance in liaison for external auditor activities and assist Executive Director in conducting internal auditing review of services where appropriate.

  1. Assist in the development and collation of Board of Directors information and materials for scheduled meetings and strategic planning activities.

  1. Assist in the development and updating of WMMIC policies, procedures or operational guidelines essential to core operations.

  1. Coordinate with the Systems Coordinator web based activities for Mutual members to include site updating, training materials, seminar postings, interactive mutual informational activities and enhancement of new membership services.

  1. Manage master WMMIC calendar of activities including communication of activities and follow up information.
  2. Assist in underwriting and policyholder services to member.
  3. Assist in reinsurance data development and evaluation.
  4. Assist in analysis and development of operational plans for improvement of overall memberservices.

  1. Assist Executive Director in other management activities as requested or assigned.
