POSITION: Student Outreach & Recruitment Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support of external affairs and student recruitment / outreach functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Student Outreachand Recruitment Assistant EA/25

External Affairs FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for performing administrative and clerical duties in support ofexternal affairs and student recruitment / outreach functions.

MAJOR DUTIES

Administrative

  • Schedules recruitment events and sets up appointments for staff within the department.
  • Assists with the set up and administration of Accuplacer.
  • Provides follow up information for dual enrollment students who have submitted test scores (Accuplacer,SAT/ACT).
  • Maintains dual enrollment student admissions paperwork tracking inBanner and in Excel.
  • Enters student information into computerized database (Banner, aXs, and Excel).
  • Prepares spreadsheet in tracking final college transcripts for dual enrollment students each term.
  • Provides assistance for the scheduling of dual enrollment new student orientation and registration process.
  • Enters general recruitment data into spreadsheetfor follow-up.
  • Prepares correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and other documents.
  • Maintains files and records.
  • Performs related duties.

Customer Service

  • Answers telephone; provides information and assistance to prospective new dual enrollment students.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of Banner, Bannerweb, aXs, and Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of Accuplacer.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards.
  • Knowledge of department and college policies and procedures to include the dual enrollment program.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.
  • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The supervisorassigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of relatedadministrative and clerical duties. Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clerical support for student outreach functions. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of student outreach functions.

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
