Your major responsibilities will include:

1. You will be an exempt, salaried staff member, meaning in part that you are exempt from overtime pay.

2. You will be a non-exempt hourly paid staff member, meaning that you are subject to overtime pay if you work over 40 hours in a week. There will be a 90 day probationary period during which your performance will be evaluated. During this 90 day period your paid time off (except for holidays) will not be available to you.

3. Please understand that your position is 100% research/grant funded. In accordance with Duke Policies, 100% research funded personnel are not eligible for severance benefits. Only staff who are not paid 100% from research funds are eligible for severance pay or Duke Reduction in Force policy. In the event that your position is eliminated, a minimum of 60-day notification will be provided to you and the Department/Divisions will work to support your search for employment elsewhere within Duke University Medical Center.

4. In accordance with the School of Medicine Influenza Vaccination Policy, some positions require an annual vaccination against influenza, or policy compliance through a granted medical or religious exemption. This is considered a condition of employment and must be completed within 14 days of your start date. Your Supervisor will discuss with you if your position has this requirement.
