Ingenta is seeking a Latin America Sales Representativeto join our Publishers Communication Group (PCG) division who will be based in their home office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. PCG has provided strategic sales, marketing and consulting services to leading scholarly publishers for over 20 years. At PCG you will be joining a diverse, international group with backgrounds in business, publishing, library science, market research and academia.

The Sales Representative will be managing publisher sales to librarians, academic faculty members, and consortia in Latin America on behalf of a range of PCG’s scholarly publishing clients to promote their products (journals, eBooks, databases, and archives), develop a sales pipeline, and close sales in the academic and corporate library market. This position will be responsible for retaining the publisher’s current client base and also generating new sales as a target and commission-based sales representation for PCG.

This position will work closely with both the PCG Global Sales Director based in the USA and with the publishers the representative will manage. Close attention to pipeline development within PCG’s CRM is key, as is driving new sales to closure.

Key Tasks:

  • Aggressively develop, pursue and close sales for your sales representation clients.
  • Attend conference meetings with academic prospects and customers.
  • Effectively manage a large sales territory by setting measurable short and long-term priorities.
  • Pursue and negotiate new sales and upsell opportunities for a wide range of accounts within the territory.
  • Maintain detailed records; providing pipeline activity and summary reports on a regular basis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (liberal arts orlibrary science a plus)
  • Relevant sales or other customer-facing experience
  • Self-motivated individual who is organized, entrepreneurial, and willing to work as necessary to meet goals and deadlines
  • Handle administrative functions such as having documents translated in to Portuguese or Spanish, license and invoice processing, and training for consortia obligations.
  • Have excellent English-language written and verbal communication skills in addition to the following:
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, highly social
  • Must be comfortable on telephone as well as meeting face-to-face with potential customers
  • Experience with the publishing industry, libraries, or academia is a plus
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (particularly Excel), CRM management
  • Willing to travel, approximately 20%-30% of time, or as needed, for sales calls and attendance at conferences and meetings in the region
