POSITION/JOB TITLE: Computer Support Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide assistance to Senior Network Administrator in proactively managing the Scherer Bros Lumber Co. voice and data network to provide a responsive, stable and secure computing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Technical Competencies

1. Install, configure and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software

  1. Manage an accurate inventory of hardware/software
  2. Provide support for desktop application connectivity
  3. Configure and support wireless devices and their connectivity to the networkincluding GPS
  4. Coordinate vendor servicing of copier/print/scan devices
  5. Conduct implementation activities for hardware and software as directed
  6. Ensure all scheduled backups of servers and Storage Area Network (SAN) are successfully completed
  7. Complete TrackIt Helpdesk requests in a timely manner with all appropriate supporting information regarding issues, status, and completion
  8. Provide end user support for voice over IP desktop application
  9. Provide input to disaster recovery planning and testing
  10. Provide technical guidance and high level training to end users
  11. Assist with development of I/T standards, written procedures, and training materials
  12. Develop an understanding of continuous improvement/lean manufacturing (CI/Lean) principles and tools
  13. Maintain necessary competencies via self-study or outside training
  14. Conduct research and make recommendations for hardware and software solutions that improve services levels and increase productivity
  15. Participate in budget planning activities to identify future needs
  16. Develop standard documentation and methods for managing desktops
  17. Maintain good working relationships with hardware and software vendors
  18. Coordinate maintenance activities with vendors
  19. Perform other duties that contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department and/or the organization

3.Gain a general understanding of application software and hardware outside the immediate scope of responsibilities to understand overall impacts of enhancements and changes and provide backup support if needed

4.General knowledge of business processes in retail and manufacturing

5.Complete all required CBT safety training modules on time

6.Promote and practice all safety policies and procedures

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Minimum two year degree from an accredited technical college with 2-3 years of directly related experience and level of responsibility

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Light lifting required (20 – 30 lbs)
  2. Some heavy lifting on occasion (greater than 30 lbs)
