Position:Graphic Designer/Administrative Assistant

Summary:This is a part-time position working 20 hours/weekonsite during daytime office hours.This organized individual should have a strong graphic design background, prioritize tasks andbeknowledgeable in social media as well as traditional media. Responsible for producing, creating and managing communications outreach via digital and traditional media for the organization in a professional and audience-conscious manner. This position reports directly to the Associate Executive Director.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Mature person able to work in variety of situations with clients, volunteers and donors.
  • Well versed in design software such as InDesign.
  • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Effectively performs administrative tasks when needed, including answering phones.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and mature level of professionalism both in the office and at events.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Meets deadlines.
  • Well-honed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Rock-solid proofreading and editing skills.
  • Able to communicate in a consistent voice.
  • Functionsresponsibly under limited supervision and pressure.
  • Efficient with computer and database programs.
  • Photography experience a plus.
  • Technologically savvy.
  • Ability to manage and communicate via all social media.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain website and social media on a daily basis.
  • Create and update all marketing and communications material as needed for events and program development.
  • Ensure brand and message consistency.
  • Manage and provide leadership to professional volunteers.
  • Maintain newsletter and donor database.
  • Explain and promote the Meals On Wheels program to all audiences as required/needed.
  • Keep Associate Executive Director informed of any potential problems.
  • Cover for CEO/Associate Executive Director speaking roles when necessary.
  • Give tours when needed.
  • Utilize volunteersvia Volunteer Coordinator when necessary.
  • Assist with planning of,and working at,fundraising and donor events (some nights and weekends).
  • Develop and maintain accurate media lists including broadcast, newspaper, magazine, business publication and trade magazine lists.
  • Take and maintain photos to document company events/programs for record-keeping and promotional purposes.
  • Write and distribute thank you notes for special events.
  • Help garner donors for fundraising events.
  • Answers phones cordially and directs calls appropriately.
  • Fulfills general typing and filing functions.
  • May be required to perform tasks outside of job description when needed. This includes but is not limited to working on unscheduled days, long days, or offsite at events.

Other Requirements:

  • Actively participate in special events and fundraisers, some of which fall on weekends and evenings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing preferred.
  • 2-4 years design/communication experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current marketing trends and technology.
  • Working knowledge of standard office computer programs, design software and social media.
  • Non-profit and/or volunteer experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance required.

Physical Demands

This position may require the person to sit, stand, walk, bend, drive and move boxes and other materials as needed.
