POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Student Government Association

Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administration, and students alike; must be committed to making UNCW a diverse and multi-cultural community. Successful candidates should have the desire to work with an energetic and creative team committed to the entire UNCW community.

Minimum requirements:

●Shall have completed one semester as a full-time UNCW student and must have a current and cumulative grade point average no lower than 2.5.

●Shall be and remain in good standing with the university as determined by the Office of the Dean of Students.

●Shall be available for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Responsibilities:

a) Shall serve on the Diversity Council or designate a proxy.

b) Shall serve as a liaison between SGA and all external diversity initiatives as well ascampus entities promoting an inclusive environment by serving on committees relating to campus diversity and inclusion.

c) Shall plan and coordinate at least three (3) diversity events per semester. At least two (2) of these events need to be in collaboration with another department or student organization on campus.

d) Shall convey to the student body the status of diversity initiatives and the status of minority enrollment.

e) Shall once per semester with the Chief Diversity Officer.

f) Shall meet monthly with designated Student Government advisor.

g) Shall chair the Diversity and Inclusion Committee

h) An opportunity must be presented each semester to all multicultural student organizations to have a collective meeting to promote relationships, collaborations, and share best practices for all events.

Compensation: $200 monthly stipend.

Pay Period: August 2018 to May 2019

IMPORTANT: The candidate who is awarded this position will be expected to have one meeting with the current position holder prior to leaving for summer break. This will allow the new appointee to obtain any and all paperwork necessary to utilize while in office and for to the effective turnover of any other pertinent information.

ALSO, if appointed (along with the other executive board members) you are expected to attend the SGA executive retreat tentatively scheduled during the summer or fall of 2018.
