Youth Projects Ltd is a large charity established in 1984 to support young people and families of the northwest suburbs and the central business district (CBD) of Melbourne.

We provide aspirational, life changing support through an integrated model in which multiple barriers are addressed with access to health care, counselling and drug safety, outreach services, employment, education and training.

POSITION CONTEXT:

The Social Enterprise Coordinator is a key position providing leadership and coordination of Youth Projects social enterprise operations, and in the development of future social enterprise models. The primary function of the role is to lead the day operations of our café, Good2Go, improving food & beverage sales, merchandise sales, clothing sales and leading a small team.

Your role is driving social impact by ensuring that our social enterprise activities are operated sustainably, efficiently, well-coordinated and meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. The Social Enterprise Coordinator will work across all teams of Youth Projects to ensure linkages and successful client outcomes.

Youth Projects social enterprise Good 2 Go is located in vibrant Hosier and presents many opportunities for development and expansion, while our facilities in Glenroy will develop opportunities for inclusion, training and wellbeing for young people aged 15 -25 years old.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Social Enterprise Coordinator will:

·  Lead the daily operations of the café

·  Be responsible for oversight of the daily leadership of the Social Enterprise teams

·  Develop and implement strategies to meet daily targets in both sales and quality

·  Develop business expansion opportunities for Youth Projects social enterprises

·  Inspire, encourage and contribute to better outcomes for clients as part of a multidisciplinary team

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Social Enterprise Coordination & Leadership

1.1 Achieve revenue targets for sales to ensure social enterprise operations are sustainable

1.2 Develop and operate effectively Youth Projects social enterprise client trainee models for current and future social enterprise initiatives

1.3 Develop business expansion opportunities for Good 2 Go

1.4 Provide supervision of and on the job training to social enterprise staff and trainees (including mentoring, support and coaching)

1.5 Development of rosters and a stable pool of social enterprise staff

1.6 Effective development, implementation and maintenance of food safety and hygiene procedures/practices

1.7 Engage trainees into day-to-day operations as detailed in the client trainee models

1.8 Develop and operate effectively strategies to increase revenue generated through sales

1.9 Develop and implement retail and merchandising opportunities to increase sales

2. Service Delivery

2.1 Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages including coffee, espresso drinks,

blended coffees/teas/juices

2.2 Implement a merchandise / retail strategy and increase sales

2.3 Lead the growth of Tour operations

2.4 Clean and sanitize work and service areas, utensils and equipment

2.5 Check and record temperatures of freezers, refrigerators and heating

Equipment to ensure proper function and compliance with food regulations

2.6 Describe and sell menu items to customers

2.7 Order, receive, and stock supplies, including retail products

2.8 Record and acquit stock

2.9 Cash handling

2.10 Accurately process transactions

2.11 Collection and banking of daily revenue

General

5.1 Engaging with and procuring new suppliers on pro-bono or low costs relationships

5.2 Achievement of program targets and goals and ensure KPI’s are met within timeframes and parameters set out by Executive Manager Employment Services

5.3 Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements including the Privacy Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, Sexual Harassment and Occupation Health and Safety.

5.4 Participate in quality activity programs, attend staff meetings, raise quality improvement opportunities, report incidents, report customer/client feedback

5.5 Adhere to Youth Project’s policy and procedures including conflict management plan and code of conduct as agreed to within conditions of employment.

5.6 Actively participate as a member of the Youth Projects team by attending scheduled meetings, working cooperatively with the Corporate Staff, Senior Leadership Team, Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.

5.7 Participate as a member and be an operational leader of the “1YP model.”

5.8 Demonstrate commitment to Youth Projects vision, mission and values

6. Administration

6.1 Ensure service delivery and associated program/s accountability according to

organisational guidelines.

6.2 Provide input into budgets (both monitoring and reporting) in accordance with organisational process.

6.3 Develop effective administrative procedures and systems for Youth Projects Social Enterprise teams, including trainees.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

·  Relevant qualifications and coordination experience operating a café (barista, food handling, hospitality)

·  Proven skills and leadership in the application of Food Services, food preparation and hospitality

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, quality documentation skills including ability to monitor and evidence client progress

·  Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus and be task-oriented

·  Sound computer literacy, administration and time management skills

·  Previous experience in working with disadvantaged populations

·  Demonstrate a positive attitude, initiative, problem solving skills and strong passion for social justice

·  Understand the principles and operations of social enterprises

·  Exhibit the values of Youth Projects in working in a non-judgmental, client-focused environment

·  Capacity to inspire, encourage and contribute to better outcomes for clients as part of a multidisciplinary team

Other Information

•  Adherence to Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) is mandatory

•  Employer contribution to superannuation at the regulated rate

•  Remuneration and conditions as prescribed in the Labour Market Assistance Industry Award 2010

•  All employees must undergo a Police Check and Working with Children Check and will also assure confidentiality of client records and Youth Projects systems and procedures

•  All Youth Projects positions have a six month minimum employment period and an annual performance review

•  As a not for profit organisation, Youth Projects is subject to continuation of its Public Benevolent Institution status by the Australian Tax Office and organisational policies, and are able to offer the successful candidate the opportunity to ‘sacrifice’ part of the salary for tax-exempt fringe benefits including meals, leasing a private function room, holiday accommodation and hire cars.
