General Description:

The Education Outreach Manager will serve as a positive ambassador and role model for United Way of Escambia County. The primary duties include the management of educational based community programs that United Way leads or supports as a community partner. The Education Outreach Manager will be responsible for diverse program support within the Escambia County community, there will be a primary focus on the educational program support to include but not limited to: Reading Pals, Cram the Van, Community School, Achieve Escambia, and Tummy Bundles, among others. The Education Outreach Manager will report to the Director of Communications and Outreach and work in partnership to ensure success of education based community work that United Way engages in or helps facilitate.

Primary Duties:

·  Manage administrative and grant-related functions of the ReadingPals Program

·  Manage the Cram the Van School Drive Program in conjunction with the Financial Stability Outreach Manager

·  Collaborate with other educational initiatives within United Way and with partner organizations on community education and outreach, including Achieve Escambia, Tummy Bundles, the Community School Initiative, and the United Way Education Collaborative

·  Serve as an ambassador and key supporter of all United Way initiatives

Education Program Leadership:

The Education Outreach Manager is responsible for United Way’s Community Impact surrounding the focus area of Education. Responsibilities include:

·  Volunteer outreach, recruitment, logistics, appreciation and recognition.

·  Management, support and training for site coordinators and volunteers.

·  Assistance to site coordinators in volunteer placement in appropriate shifts. Governance that ensures partner sites remain operational by individual program standards.

·  The successful operation of the educational sites per established United Way and collaborative partner guidelines (i.e. Reading Pals, Tummy Bundles, Community School, etc.).

·  Partnership with other educational program partners including but not limited to: Escambia County School District, ECARE, CHS, BBBS, Boys and Girls Club, Women United, UWADA, Achieve Escambia, Community School Collaborative/CHS, and the United Way Partnership Manager.

·  Management and oversight of educational outreach efforts and events as lead staff.

·  Support sites through volunteer oversight, regular site visits, and site management as necessary.

·  Creation of annual report for the Educational Impact programs utilizing program data.

·  Collection of client and volunteer stories for program support and marketing.

·  Development and implementation of success strategies for working with students, volunteers and program partners.

·  Overall program evaluation and planning through review of analytics on annual surveys, volunteers and site coordinator evaluations.

·  Ensuring educational program participation creates a high quality experience for the students, volunteers and partners. Timely follow-up with partners on requests.

ReadingPals Program

·  Recording student and volunteer attendance and student assessment data from all sites into database.

·  Reporting to the Children’s Movement according to semi-annual and yearly requirements.

·  Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports to key partners and funders.

·  Managing all aspects of the Women United‘s involvement with United Way education initiatives.

·  Assisting with or coordinating marketing efforts.

Communication and Grant Responsibilities:

·  Collaborative work with staff and field volunteers, to include evaluation of successes and needs.

·  Communication with Director of Communications and Outreach regarding disgruntled partners or unresolved issues (detailing situation and action taken).

·  Regular communication with all field volunteers through email, teleconferencing and meetings.

·  Fundraising support for educational initiatives including contribution to grant writing efforts, and sponsorship solicitation.

·  Filing and reporting for grantors and donors that meets deadlines for funding (proper documentation is recorded and secured to meet grant requirements).

·  Communication with staff, participation in weekly staff meetings, and attendance at monthly United Way staff meetings.

Other education initiatives and strategic responsibilities:

·  Develop partnership opportunities to support other programs and departments at United Way with volunteers, opportunities, and events as they relate to educational initiatives.

·  Act as lead staff for relationship development with educational initiatives within the community to improve services offered at school sites and other partner sites.

·  Function as a member of the Community Investment Education Panel and attend quarterly education focus group meetings.

·  Participate as a member of key community committees that are aligned with the work of the educational initiatives.

Other Responsibilities:

·  Offer suggestions for improvement and growth in an effective manner.

·  Work with Database Specialist to oversee online database (Apricot) for volunteers associated with educational initiatives and programs.

·  Represent United Way at community fairs, presentations, businesses, civic, professional development, and school-based groups.

·  Participate in administrative and logistical functions necessary for successful grants, programs, and events, to include database entry, printing and packing materials/supplies, quality assurance phone calls, and development and analysis of evaluations for participants.

·  Update database systems with pertinent information, providing data for the Director of Communications and Outreach, as requested.

·  Any other duties as assigned, including assistance within the employee’s area of expertise.

·  Position is based upon a 40 hour work week and full-time employment status. Some Saturday work, especially during the school year, may be required based on program needs.

·  The Education Outreach Manager is a salaried non-exempt position and changes to schedule are subject to approval of the Director of Communications and Outreach.

Qualifications

·  Bachelor degree or 3 years of relevant work experience.

·  Previous relevant employee or volunteer management experience.

·  Exceptional verbal communication skills (in-person and on the phone).

·  Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and personalities.

·  Excellent organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills; must be detail oriented.

·  Good analytical skills and ability to identify and respond to issues/opportunities.

·  Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable information.

·  Ability to function responsibly and autonomously as demonstrated by excellent decision making skills, sound judgment and a high level of comfort exercising authority.

·  Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office software.

·  Basic aptitude in use of general office equipment.

·  Maintains a professional manner in order to work with the volunteers, staff, and community.

Physical Requirements:

·  Sit at work station for long periods (4-8 hours).
