Position Summary: / Prototypes Residential Mother’s and Children Program in Pomona seeks interns who under the direct supervision of the Intern Field Instructor will provide individual, family and group therapy to women and their children in a residential setting. Experience with the Child Welfare and or the Mental Health System is preferred. The intern will gain experience in 1) working with families who struggle with substance abuse, mental illness and trauma; 2) developing of clinical and case management skills; and 3) exposure to macro projects such as participation on council meetings, developing resources for families in and outside of treatment and networking with collaborative agencies.
You will be required to be punctual, be prepared for any groups that you facilitate, be on time with all your documentation and to carry a moderate case load (4-6 clients).
Your supervisor will assign clients to you. You may be serving both adult women and children ages 2-10.
A clinical orientation will be provided to you by your supervisor when you begin your practicum or internship and you will be required to adhere to Prototypes Policies and Code of Professionalism.
You will be provided one hour of individual supervision and/or two hours of group supervision per week. You will have an opportunity to attend staff meetings and case management meetings and to receive on-site and off site trainings.

20% / ·  Facilitate and/or co-facilitate didactic groups and group therapy process.
25% / ·  Macro Assignments as assigned
25% / ·  Develop clinical skills by way of individual, group, live, audio or video supervision and by experiential work in individual and family therapy sessions.
15% / ·  Become proficient at writing process and SIRP progress notes.
·  Become proficient at case conceptualization and DSM 5 diagnosis
15% / ·  Gain education and experience related to different theoretical orientations, developing treatment goals and interventions, defense mechanisms, countertransference, personality traits and disorders, etc.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies Required: / ·  Bachelor’s degree Required
·  Enrolled in MSW Program
·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office
