Position Description - Prospect Nurturing Coordinator

Treasurer

1. POSITION: The Treasurer shall receive from the financial secretary a report of all monies and credit the same to the proper accounts. He shall make disbursements according to instructions from the church council. He shall report to the congregation as required by the church council. He shall submit his records to the congregation annually for audit or at any time the congregation desires. In the event the Treasurer is unable to carry out his duties, the President or Secretary has the authority to carry out his obligations. This officer shall be bonded.

2. QUALIFICATIONS: The person in this position shall serve as an example of Christian leadership through his own worship and devotional life, and personal conduct, in accordance with 1 Timothy 3: 2-10. In accepting the election as Treasurerhe shall commit himself to personal growth in the knowledge of God’s Word through regular worship, attendance of Bible Classes, in personal study and meditation, and be responsive to spiritual guidance given by the pastors. He must be a voting member in good standing with the congregation,and shall complete the Core Curriculum Bible Study.

3. RELATIONSHIPS: This position shall report to and be responsible to the Church Council. The Treasurer shall have a good working and communication relationship with his fellow council members, the Financial Secretary and the Church Administrative Assistant.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Treasurer will oversee all aspects of our congregation’s financesand work with fellow members of the Council to:

  1. Employ effective leadership on behalf of the voters and be responsible to them.
  2. Serve as legal trustees of the congregation.
  3. Maintain a record of congregational policies and decisions.
  4. Ensure adherence to sound doctrine and practice within the congregation.
  5. Establish strategic policy for the congregation.
  6. Provide spiritual direction and priority setting according to the mission and assure implementation of the congregation’s vision.
  7. Coordinate the programs of the congregation, set operational priorities, and support and enable the elders in the implementation of their portions of the mission/vision for any given year.
  8. Present to the voters an annual budget that reflects ministry priorities.
  9. Ensure the support of the pastors and other called or hired workers.
  10. Appoint coordinators, committee members, ministry teams, and task forces at the recommendation of the responsible elder for each area of ministry.
  11. Fill vacancies among elected officers by appointment.
  12. Schedule Member Forums quarterly for input and to communicate clearly and consistently with members.
  13. Oversee the activities of the Treasurer for the Board of Education
  14. Work with the Church Council on planning for and training a successor
