Position Title: QLife Project Manager
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Newtown (Sydney)
Conditions:
This role is a full time position with a competitive salary package which is classified above Award. All conditions of the NSW SCHADS Award apply to the position.
Organisational information:
The National LGBTI Health Alliance (“the Alliance”) is the national peak body of organisations and individuals working together to improve the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, intersex and other sexuality, sex and gender diverse (LGBTI) people.
1. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY
The QLife Project Manager position is a role within the National LGBTI Health Alliance and is accountable for:
· Leading QLife, the national Teleweb project of the LGBTI Health Alliance, including liaising with the Federal Department of Health and management of national staff based at the Alliance
· Community sector, mental health sector, and primary care provider engagement with a view to promoting QLife services as delivered by our project partners
· Managing project deliverables according to Key Outcome Measures within our funding agreement and preparation of annual plans to reflect these goals
· Project managing relationships with service Partners (currently Diverse Voices Living Proud, Switchboard and Twenty10/GLCS) to ensure consortium systems are running smoothly and that consortia guidelines are followed.
· Acting as key relationship between the funder and project staff at Steering and Operations level, including the chairing of regular teleconference based meetings, scheduled site visits and preparing meeting documentation
· Supervision and management of the National Project Team based at the National LGBTI Health Alliance
2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The QLife Projects Manager reports to the Executive Director and supervises the team of National QLife staff, namely the National Coordinator: Clinical Practice and Development, the National Coordinator: Systems and Data and the National Coordinator: Capacity Building.
Program & Project Management
· Identify strategic goals and provide direction and influential leadership to others to achieve outcomes
· Monitor trends and developments that may affect the project ability to meet current and future project deliverables and outcomes
· Undertake the development, improvement and management of QLife services by preparing project briefs and monitoring, evaluating and reporting on project outcomes and progress including risk management
· Provide direction to the use of QLife budgetary resources within contract deliverable frameworks especially in relation to resource development and service promotion
· Identify key performance indicators and implement information management systems for the reporting and monitoring of performance of QLife Service Delivery partners.
· Prepare high quality written documents, including briefings and reports to a range of stakeholders within the required timeframes
Consortium Relationship Management and Communication
· Communicate at all levels verbally and in writing, clarifying situations, act impartially and use influence and negotiation to effectively mediate and devise workable solutions
· Clearly communicate complex issues to key stakeholders, using a variety of media resources to convey information
· Represent the National LGBTI Health Alliance at State and National forums and conferences.
Government, Community & Corporate Relations
· Complex program management in a community sector environment involving Governments and Corporate Sector partners.
LGBTI Mental Health, Teleweb and health sectors
· Knowledge of the issues facing LGBTI people in relation to mental health and familiarity with directions for reform found within the National Review of Mental Health Programmes and Services review document
3. SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
· Relevant qualifications or extensive knowledge and experience related to mental health, health and wellbeing or other relevant fields.
· Good knowledge of the current mental health issues affecting LGBTI people and/or suicide prevention in Australia, including policy issues and psychosocial determinants of health.
· Understanding of the workings of government (Commonwealth and State/Territory), and of the mental health and teleweb sector.
· Excellent communication skills especially the ability to produce well written and succinct documents, reports and resources.
· Ability to manage complex and often competing tasks and priorities to deliver high quality products on time.
· Capacity to work productively in a team both with the Alliance, QLife Partner organisations and mainstream mental health organisations.
· Experience in successfully building and managing external relationships
· Understanding of and commitment to health and human rights for LGBTI people and communities.
· Willingness to travel within Australia.
· Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and social media.
Desirable
· Experience in managing government contracts
· Proven innovative thinking and problem solving skills
· Experience in a similar role within a community based organisation, a health related project role or within a phone or web based service
· Demonstrated understanding of the complexities of providing mental health services via the medium of web and phone based services
