Position: Construction Site Manager.

Location: Aylesford Kent.

Reporting to: Civils/Elec Project Manager.

Division: G2 Energy Projects.

Salary: £200 per day.

Hours: 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday, Overtime available.

Holiday: Self-employed, unpaid and to be agreed.

Start date: Mid-Late Sept, TBC.

Job Purpose:

G2 Energy are in the process of completing a 40MW Battery Storage Plant facility in Glassenbury, Kent and a 10MW installation in Cleator, Cumbria on behalf of Vitol Low Carbon (VLC) Group. They will be the largest portfolio of battery sites connected to the National Grid once operational later this year. The Glassenbury and Cleator sites secured two contracts with the National Grid in August 2016 for battery energy storage systems to provide Enhanced Frequency Response (EFR) to the UK system operator.

G2 Energy have now secured two new Battery Storage Plants in Aylesford, Kent and Claredown, Essex. This joint venture will be with BE Storage using Chinese Battery technology BYD. To run and operate a high profile construction site, G2 Energy require a Site Manager that will be responsible for all sponsored activities on the Aylesford Battery Storage project. The project will be commencing mid-late Sept 17, with an anticipated completion date of Dec 17. The project will comprise of general groundworks and the installation of concrete reinforced foundations ready to receive state of the art Battery Storage containers. Included with this will be the installation of all the auxiliary products for the technology and a 33kV Sub-Station. The Site manager will be the PM’s right hand man, ensuring that their plan is realised and if not, early warnings are given to allow the PM to formulate an alternative. Other responsibilities:

·  The Site Manager is answerable to the Operations for all site activities.

·  The Site Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of work on-site.

·  When not on site the Site Manager shall delegate authority for the management of the Site to the Site Supervisor.

·  Responsible for all deliveries to the site and the associated paperwork.

·  Ensuring that all site inductions are delivered and recorded as per the CPP.

·  The Site Manager shall cooperate with management to ensure the safe and secure management of the Site.

·  Responsible for ensuring that all the H&S aspects of the RAMS and CCP are executed and delivered as per the documentation and legislation.

·  The Site Manager is responsible for the accounting of all assets and materials on-site under his control.

·  The Site Manager is authorised to sign time sheets of contractors under his control.

·  To assist the appointed project managers within G2 Energy with the safe and effective delivery of allocated projects, whilst developing personnel skills and experience to progress the project.

·  Ensuring that the site office and site is kept to a high standard of cleanliness and a robust system of hygiene and discipline is enforced throughout the site and welfare facilities.

Principal Accountabilities

·  Provide direct assistance to the project delivery team as directed by the PM’s.

·  Assist with site coordination duties.

·  Control of waste management – spoil, construction waste and COSHH etc.

·  Ensure project compliance with works programme and set daily and weekly targets to construction workers.

·  Ensure early warnings to PM’s if milestones are not been met.

·  Attend weekly meetings and draft weekly reports.

·  Deliver weekly tool box talks.

·  Secondary point of contact for clients during the construction phase.

·  Liaise with contractors carrying out installation works.

·  Liaise with supply chain partners to coordinate material orders.

·  Assist with material & equipment deliveries to site.

·  Assist PMs to ensure sites are Health and Safety compliant.

·  Demonstrate a commitment to learn and progress.

Technical Competencies

·  Able to demonstrate general basic understanding to safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) legislation and company policies and procedures.

·  Assist in the identification of hazards and evaluate associated risk and to demonstrate ability to take measures to mitigate.

·  Applies a general understanding of the processes needed to organise the phasing of the work and mobilise resources to enable construction to proceed to plan.

·  Assists project delivery team on the practical application of risk assessments, audits and site inspections

·  Has a general basic knowledge of the processes involved in the construction of electric networks and connections.

·  Has a general basic understanding of the impact of legislation, regulation and associated standards in relation to construction and installation activities

Qualifications and Insurance

·  SMSTS.

·  Public Liability Insurance and Personal Indemnity Insurance up to £2M.

·  A sound knowledge of health and safety.

·  At least 1 years experience of working in a construction or engineering environment.

·  General understanding of project management principals.

·  Good organisational skills and able to manage own workload effectively.

·  Team player willing to support colleagues and to demonstrate ambition to progress career.
