Application Process: Application and contents must be mailed. Completed applications must be postmarked on or after January 15 and on or before March 31.

History of Scholarship: The scholarship was started by Patrick Charnon. He often challenged and supported his students. Above all, he respected them. He died in 1987 due to cancer. His legacy lives through the Charnon Memorial Scholarship. Friends and family continue to donate to the fund. Successful candidates are awarded the scholarship who demonstrates tolerance, compassion, and respect through their actions in their respective communities.

Eligibility:

· Applicant must be admitted or enrolled in a accredited undergraduate program in a four-year college or university in the US

· Applicant must be enrolled full-time

Required Materials:

· Completed application

· 3 Letters of reference

o From adults who have known you for more than one year

· Official transcripts

· Essay – 2-4 pages doubled-space

o How community service experiences have shaped your life and how you will use your college education to build communities in a manner consistent with Pat Cahrnon’s values of compassion, tolerance, generosity and respect.
