After-School All-Stars (ASAS) is a leading national after-school program provider. Our comprehensive school-based programs combine activities and learning to help build the knowledge and skills children need to succeed, both in school and in life. Our programs focus on middle school students attending schools where the majority of students come from low income families. Founded as a national organization by Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1992, ASAS is building a national model for after-school program delivery through our 15 Chapters, all of which serve at-risk youth in major U.S. cities. The Ohio chapter of ASAS currently serves 750 low income, inner city youth at 10 school sites in Cleveland, Columbus, and Toledo as part of our greater National Network that serves over 70,000 children across the US.
Job Summary:
ASAS seeks an experienced individual to serve as Directorof External Affairsfor our Ohio chapter. The DEAs primary responsibilities will involve working closely with the Executive Director of External Affairsto develop and execute the ASAS Ohio fundraising plan. This chapter operates on an annual budget consisting of approximately $1.7 million from state and local government grants and other fundraising.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Work with the State DirectorandCleveland Advisory Boardto develop and implement a fundraising strategy to support the goals, objectives and activities of After-School All-Stars Ohio.
- Raise funds from corporations, foundations, individuals and government agencies.
- Work with the Cleveland Advisory Board to strategize, plan, and solicit major sponsors and donors.
- Maintain general relationships, including regular communication, with all key sponsors.
- Ensure that all sponsorship agreements are fulfilled.
- Prepare and distribute, as appropriate, all needed materials for soliciting sponsors.
- Maintain current, accurate records of sponsors and key aspects of sponsor relations.
- Research and write or support the preparation of grant applications or sponsorship proposals.
- Fulfill all reporting requirements for grants received.
- Support the development and management of media relations to communicate the message of After-School All-Stars and promote appropriate events.
- Expand the Chapter's brand awareness and develop additional streams of revenue
Traits and Characteristics:
The individual is expected to be experienced in the field of nonprofit fund development with demonstrated success in cultivating individual donors, corporate sponsorship, and foundation grants. The DEA will exemplify the ASAS core values: entrepreneurial, collaborative, proactive, transparent, and accountable. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience with grants and a successful fundraising track record in Cleveland is preferable.
Education:
An undergraduate degree is required.
