Course Description: / Introductory calculus-based physics for science majors. Topics to be covered include: electricity and magnetism, electric circuits, special relativity & nuclear physics

Evaluation:
·  Examinations (70%): Three 1-hour examinations covering course material up to the day of exam.
·  Laboratory (20%): Details on lab assignments will be covered in separate handouts.
·  Assigned Homework Problems (10%): Homework will be assigned and collected but not graded. A solutions manual is on reserve at the Cascade Library. Homework assignments will be due on the day announced in class.
·  Letter grades will be assigned as follows:
A = 100 to 90 % B = 89 to 80 % C = 79 to 65 % D = 64 to 55 % F = 54 % or lower
·  To receive a Pass in the course a grade of C or better must be earned. To receive a Pass/Fail grade the instructor must be notified shortly after first mid-term.
Attendance & Make-up Policy: / Please notify the instructor by phone if you plan to be absent. With prior notice, arrangements can be made to reschedule exams, answer questions, etc.
Note: If you plan on missing an examination, the instructor must be notified at least one week in advance of examination. Any make-up exam without appropriate notice will be subject to a 10% penalty. No exceptions!
Students may only make-up 1 exam during the term. All additional missed exams will be marked as zero points.
