Portable Electric Drill

1.  Wear approved eye protection.

2.  If using a corded power drill disconnect the electric cord plug from the power outlet when changing drill bits.

3.  Be sure the switch is off and the chuck key is removed before you connect the cord plug to the power source.

4.  Do not use in damp or wet areas.

5.  Be sure the material being drilled is tightly clamped or secured.

6.  Drill with a straight steady even pressure.

7.  Be sure the drill bit used is properly secured in the chuck.

8.  Never drill another student’s project without teacher permission.

9.  Always return drill bits and portable drills to the proper place.

10. If you are having problems drilling a hole it could be because:

A)  The drill is set in reverse

B)  The drill bit is dull

C)  Wrong size drill bit

11. If you are using a cordless (battery pack) drill and the battery looses

power, do the following:

A) Remove battery

B) Get charged battery from the shop office

C) Set spent battery correctly in its charger

D) Reinstall new battery in drill
