Treatment Plan-Fall 2017

The treatment plan will be for one session to last 90 minutes. It is to be an independent effort.

POPULATION: Adolescents with Emotional Impairments in an after school programfor at risk youth

AGE RANGE: 14-19 years old

GROUP SIZE: 8-10Adolescents

CLINICAL INFORMATION: This is a once weeklymusic therapy group which runs for the school year. The group is semi-closed, no more than ten students can be involved at any one time, and new students can only join when a student leaves the group. The students sign up to participate.

This is the first session of the current school year. The therapist has met with each student independently, but the group has not met as a whole. About half the members were involved the previous year, with the rest being new. The therapist has access to a wide range of equipment, props and instruments.

INCLUDE IN YOUR TREATMENT PLAN:

  1. Your session plan. Please do not put any identifying information on your plan as it will be blind reviewed by a committee.
  2. 1-2 non-musical goals or behavioral objectives for the session
  3. 1-2 musical goals or behavioral objectives for the session
  4. A description of each component of the session from your session plan. Please include any original musical materials. Please do not send copies of copyrighted materials. (Bibliographic or discographic information will be sufficient)
  5. Equipment/materials list

For those who are familiar with the terms therapeutic music interventions or activities as session plan components, we are using the term therapeutic music experiences. An intervention is defined as an action on the part of the therapist within the therapeutic music experience which leads to a response from the individual, such as hand over hand during drum playing.
