Hotel Industry Senior Hotel Executive of the Year

AHS Hospitality is proud to support the Hotel Industry and be associated with the New Zealand Hotel Industry Awards 2016. AHS Hospitality is the market leader in outsourced housekeeping services to the hospitality industry in Australasia. Since its inception in 1993, AHS has been solely dedicated to the hospitality industry. They are responsible for servicing more than 10 million rooms every year, operating at 190 hotels across all of the major hotel brands in the region. With more than 5,000 employees, AHS are one of the largest hospitality employers in Australia and New Zealand. The senior management team has over 200 years combined experience across large multi-national hotel chains and understand what is required to deliver results.

About this award

The Senior Hotel Executive of the Year will be a role model to his or her peers. This award is not just about hotel performance. It rewards aseniorexecutive who has a passion for their work so great that they go beyond the call of duty.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be supported by the head/executive/owner of the organisation/property
  • have worked in the hotel industry for a minimum of 10 years
  • be employed in aNew Zealand hotel at the time of application
  • the achievements listed by the nominee in this application should have taken place within the last three years

Please note self-nominations are welcome.

Entry format

In addition to completing the Official Entry Form, please provide a typedoverview (2000 words maximum), including:

  • a description of the applicant’s accomplishments - consider the following areas:
  • personal attributes
  • commitment and dedication to the hotel industry
  • fair and decisive leadership skills
  • excellent communicator
  • well respected in the industry
  • exemplary business track record
  • innovative and creative
  • strong attention to detail
  • manages by example
  • details of relevant skills to the role performed e.g. Hotel GM, HR Director, Finance Director, Director of Sales and Marketing
  • commitment to employees
  • focuses on developing employees’ careers and maximising their potential
  • willing to impart knowledge to employees
  • organises staff surveys and acts on them
  • empathetic and approachable
  • commitment to the industry
  • supports government initiatives to promote hospitality as a career choice and raise training standards
  • engages with local community to promote industry
  • supports tourism and hospitality associations and events both personally and with his/her hotel/business resources
  • details of relevant skills to the role performed, e.g. Hotel GM, HR Director, Finance Director, Director of Sales and Marketing
  • social responsibility
  • contributes personally, and with hotel resources, to help charitable initiatives; involves staff in charitable/community events
  • has a well communicated and effective environmental policy
  • description of any programme(s) initiated or implemented in 2011/12
  • special recognition or awards received
  • other factors demonstrating the applicant makes a valuable contributorto the New Zealand hotel industry
  • ashort biography

Submissions must also include:

  • supporting statements from colleagues and head/executive/owner where possible
  • contact names and details of two referees (the judges may contact these referees for further information)
  • visuals:
  • several high resolution (1 MB at least) jpeg images of the hotel property with at least one featuring the nominee
  • one head and shoulders of the nominee, jpeg (1MB at least)
  • hotel logo

All components of this submission must be completed and submitted in order for the application to be considered.

Judging criteria

The winner will be determined based on the information and submission provided.

The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

The judges’ decision will be based upon the nominee’s ability to fulfill the outlined criteria along with the supporting information.

In consultation with the judges,the New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference reserves the right to remove this award category either due to insufficient entries or nominations not meeting the required standard.

  1. The achievements made by the nominee or the hotel must have taken place between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2016.
  2. Several finalists will be chosen in each category and a winner selected from those finalists.
  3. Submission of an application deems award winners have consented to their name and photograph being used for post-event publicity.
  4. Submission of an application deems entrants’ consent to publication in connection with the Awards of any of the documents or materials constituting their entry.
  5. Winners may state in advertising, promotional and any other business material that they are winners but must also state the category of the Award and the year in which it was won.
  6. Material submitted for these Awards will not be returned to the applicant.
