(Dr. Famulari is Lecturer and Vice Chair for Undergraduate Education at UCSD. She is a specialist in Health Care Economics with a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. Prior to coming to UCSD, she was a faculty member in the Department of Economics at the University of Texas and a Research Economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics. She is the author of numerous publications.)

(Dr. Basu has a B.A. from St. Xavier College in Bombay India and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside. She has been department chair of the Economics Department at CaliforniaStateUniversity – San Marcos where she teaches Economic Development. She has published several articles. )

(Dr. Gordon is Assistant Professor of Economics at UCSD. She has a Ph D from Harvard. Her thesis was Essays in the Economics of Education. She has published several journal articles.)

(Mathieu Zahui is Adjunct Professor of Economics at Palomar College, specializing in international financial matters and Economic Development. He is working on his Ph D at AlliantUniversity. He is certified as a government financial manager and is a budget analyst for the US Veterans Affairs. He has taught at several colleges in the San Diego area.)

(Dr. Han is Professor of Political Science at ChapmanUniversity. She has a Ph D in Political Science fromUSC. She is the author of several books and articles. Her main areas of specialty include the Presidency, Women and Politics, the Media and Politics, and Political Leadership.)
12.30 to 1.50 Campaign ’08: A GOP – Democratic Debate

(The Republican Debater will be Larry Greenfield. Mr. Greenfield has a B.A. in Political Science from Berkeley and a Law Degree from Georgetown. He is California Director of the Republican Jewish Coalition where he works to promote interfaith relations. He was statewide Co-Chairman of the re-election of Governor Schwarzenegger and has been an advisor to the Governor’s Legal Office. The Democratic debater will be Bob Hamilton. Bob Hamilton is the Democratic Party candidate for California’s 49th House District. He is also head of the Fallbrook Democratic Club. He was commissioned as an officer in the Naval Reserve and served as an anti-submarine officer and nuclear weapons officer during the Vietnam conflict.)

(Dr. Shaffer is Executive Director of the UCSD Environment and Sustainability Initiative at Scripps. She is also adjunct professor of International Relations and Pacific Studies. She has a Ph D in Political Science and Public Policy from GeorgeWashingtonUniversity. She has been personally trained by former Vice President Al Gore to make this presentation – based on his award-winning documentary.)

(Dr. Linda Dudik has been Professor of History at PalomarCollege since 1975. She has her Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She has taught many classes in History including a class on World War II.)

(Mara Allard is a practicing attorney. She is a former District Attorney in San DiegoCounty. She worked as a journalist in the Reagan White House in the 1980s.)

(Dillon Emerick is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Palomar College. He is presently finishing his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of California, Riverside. His main interests are Critical Theory, Applied Ethics, and Critical Thinking. Dr. Kathy Grove is Assistant Professor of Sociology at PalomarCollege. She has her Ph.D. in Sociology and is the author of a book “Building Bridges” as well as several articles on women and HIV/AIDS. She has been nominated for the Distinguished Research Award and the Distinguished Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching at Palomar.)

(Farideh Rahmani is Adjunct Professor of Economics at Palomar College. She was a full time faculty member at FerdowsiUniversity of Mashad, Iran. She has her Bachelors’ degree from the LondonSchool of Economics and her Masters Degree from FerdowsiUniversity. She participated in several research projects in Iran.)

(Dr. Arthur Petersen is a former professor of Political Science. He holds a Ph D in Political Science from the University of Minnesota. He taught at several universities and has 16 publications. He was recently a delegate at the Republican Convention in St Paul. He is also President of the Thomas W. Warthen Aviation Academy.)

(Christine Moore is Adjunct Professor of History at Palomar College and Lecturer in History at California State University, San Marcos. She has her Masters Degree in History from San Diego State. She is currently Regional President of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges.)

(Jacob LaRiviere is an Economics Ph D candidate at UCSD. He is also a Lecturer at UCSD and at CSU – San Marcos. He has presented his research at conferences in Sweden, Denmark, and in California. )

Topic: Comedy, Economics, and Climate Change
Room: SSC – 1 (Governing Board Room)
(Dr. Yoram Bauman is the world’s first and only stand-up economist! His economics jokes have received over 450,000 hits on YouTube. He received his Ph D in Economics from the University of Washington. He is an Environmental Economist and has produced studies of the impacts of climate change and also has an online Economics textbook.)
