POLICY FOR SELECTION OF FIELD EXPERIENCE AND INTERNSHIP SITES

General Policy

Students may request a county indicating first and second county choices. Students are encouraged to indicate a preferred area of the county. Students are asked to complete information that may effect placement (e.g., location of day care facilities and transportation difficulties). Such information is to permit placement choices, note that guarantees cannot be made.

·  The non-final experience has two placements within the semester. Placements must meet requirements of the College of Education: diversity of age, culture, race, ethnicity, and linguistic, socio-economic status.

·  Students must list schools where they are members of school improvement teams, (SAC, PTO, etc.), have been or are currently employed, or have relatives employed and/or attending. Depending upon relationship, students are not placed in those schools. Such information reported later may require reassignment and delay placement.

·  Students are placed in schools where, when possible, cohort groups can be formed. Cohort groups are comprised of different program areas and students completing field experiences or final internships. The College of Education makes all intern assignments in consultation with county administrators, principals and teachers.

·  Faculty members may provide input to facilitate appropriate field experience placement. The College of Education and the respective counties have agreed upon all placements.

·  I understand that special consideration for my placement must be submitted prior to the time in which the Internship Office contacts the school site.

·  I am aware that consideration is being given to my placement choices, but guarantees cannot be made.

·  I am responsible for my own transportation in a punctual manner wherever I am placed.

·  I have read the Policy for Selection of Field Experience and Internship sites.

·  If any changes occur that change this application and will affect the placement, I will notify the Internship Office as soon as possible.

·  I understand the orientation is mandatory and I will be withdrawn from the field experience if not present.
