Tom Pietryk has been playing senior softball for 22 years and has accumulated 11National Senior Softball Hall of Fame points dating back to 1992 when he was then playing in the 50-&-over division. Tom, now playing in the 70-&-over division, garnered his last NSSHOF point in 2008 while playing in the 65-&-over division at the Senior Softball World Championships. He has been selected all-tournament at other significant senior softball events since then but none that counted towards the NSSHOF.

Included in that cache of awards are several best offensive player recognitions. Tom has maintained a career batting average near the 700 mark during his 22 years of senior softball tournament play.

Bob Pietrzyk, who has been Tom’s manager for most of his senior playing career, wrote this about him, “Tom has been a gold glove player for me at third base. He has maintained a batting average from 650 to 800 in every tournament we have played. He has been an all-tournament selection every time we have been eligible to name all-tournament players.”

Teammate Bob Failla said this about Tom, “Our team (Jersey Jaguars) is known both in New Jersey and nationally and our leader and best player has always been Tom Pietryk. He has always batted third and hit over 700. He still is the most consistent hitter and RBI man on the team.”

Another teammate, Bob Berger, says, “Being the leadoff batter it is my main purpose to get on so that Tom can drive me in. Tom is without a doubt a consistent 700-750 hitter. Now playing in the 70+ division he still hits with power, at times clearing 310’ fences. His defensive skills have also remained strong at third base.”

Tom Madak, also a teammate, concludes, “Tom’s accolades include numerous all-tournament, all-world, outstanding offensive player and Most Valuable Player awards. His induction into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame is long overdue. This year serious consideration should be made to include him as an inductee.”
