Point Loma’s Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLR’S)

Students encounter various challenges in our classroom: solving word problems, modeling, learning how to use science formulas, and unexpected non-routine problems (“complex thinker”). On individual work, students are asked to take notes and to indicate difficulties they experience so that I can respond to their needs (“effective communicators” and “responsible self-directed learners and workers”). Also included in the ESLR’s is understanding the importance of being an involved citizen.

Dear Students & Parents/Guardians:

We are looking forward to a successful year working together! I believe that keeping communication open is crucial for student success. Remember that many students struggle with Math not because it is impossible but because there is a lack of commitment to practice and motivation to push through the challenges. Success is possible with first belief in yourself that you CAN and WILL succeed, and then followed by the actions you take. Students remember that we are your teachers. Our roles are to teach you the content, help you understand it, guide you and motivate you. Your success is a direct reflection of your attitude and effort! Cheers to an incredible year together!

Sincerely,

Your PLHS Integrated Math I Team
