1Yvonne Leab, the SIT chairperson, opened the meeting.

2Administrative items:

SIP – Schools are required to revise their School Improvement Plans for 2011-2012. Our revised plan has been placed on the Staff Shared Folder. We will vote on our plan on Monday, October 10th. The ballot box will be set up in the media center from 7:30 until 3:00. All staff members should vote. If you vote against the plan, you will be asked to provide a reason. Last year one person voted against the plan. After our plan is approved, we will post it on our school’s website. Our revised reading goals are attached to this document.

Specials Schedule – Guidance will be removed from the Specials schedule beginning the week of October 31st. We will no longer have an “A” Week/”B” Week schedule.

Common Core training will be available for registration very soon. Carolyn will alert you when this is posted.

Goal One: Increase 3rd grade reading proficiency from 91.5% to 93%.

Strategies:

1Analyze Blue Diamond data by reviewing quarter test results and common formative assessments at weekly PLC meetings.

2Implement Enrichment/Intervention time with support staff to provide students identified as at-risk with tutoring during the school day.

3 Incorporate Bloom’s Revised Thinking/Questioning skills in daily

literacy instruction.

4Participate in refresher training on the SAT process.

Goal Two: Increase 4th grade reading proficiency from 88.5% to 90%.

Strategies:

1Analyze Blue Diamond data by reviewing quarter test results and common formative assessments at weekly PLC meetings.

2Implement Enrichment/Intervention time with support staff to provide students identified as at-risk with tutoring during the school day.

3 Incorporate Bloom’s Revised Thinking/Questioning skills in daily

literacy instruction.

Goal Three: Focus strong emphasis on K-2 literacy to increase 3rd grade reading proficiency from 91.5% to 93%.

Strategies:

1Analyze DIBELS data and common formative assessments at weekly PLC meetings.

2Implement Enrichment/Intervention time with support staff to provide students identified as at-risk with tutoring during the school day.

3Implement Balanced Literacy and the green band of Imagine It! with fidelity in kindergarten.

4Implement Balanced Literacy with fidelity in grades 1, 2 and 3.

5Participate in refresher training on the SAT process.

Goal Four: Increase 5th grade reading proficiency from 90.5% to 92%.

Strategies:
