FOSTER HOME APPLICATION

Please read the following:

A Foster Home is a temporary home for a pet until UAARS (Undercover Angels Animal Rescue of Saginaw) finds a permanent home for the dog. Thank you for considering being a foster for UAARS.

‘To be considered as a foster home for UAARS you must:

●Be atleast 18 years old

If you rent your home you must have written consent from landlord to foster pets

Have all dogs and cats in the home spayed or neutered, if they are 6 months or older (unless there is medical reasons for not doing so)

Have all pets in home up to date on vaccinations

Agree to have a home visit done by one of the volunteers. The volunteers will need to see the areas of the home where the pet will be allowed and a meet and greet with other family members/family pets.

You must also agree to the following conditions, which are included in the foster home agreement contract:

Agree to have a leash and collar ( with identifiable UAARS tag, or name and phone number of adopter)

Agree to never allow the foster pet to be off leash when its outdoors, unless it is secured in a fenced in area

Agree to have foster pet reside in home, not outside. The foster pet may NOT be left outdoors when you are not home. This includes outdoor kennel runs.

Agree to never allow foster pet to be left unattended with young children

Provide food, water, shelter, and lots of LOVE during the foster pets stay with you

Our rescue organization is an all (unpaid) volunteer organization. For each application we receive it takes us approximately 3 hours to review, contact all personal and veterinary references, and make a decision on approval of it. Depending on volunteer availability, this can take us several days to accomplish, especially when receiving many applications, or if we have difficulties reaching references.

Please complete the foster home application. Upon receipt of your application, UAARS application coordinator(s) will review your application and contact your references. We will then make a determination. After application is approved, a home visit will be scheduled. INT______

~~~Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens, dogs and puppies in their own Great Lakes Bay Region homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for up to three months or more.
How foster care works
●When UAARS receives animals who are not ready to be put up for adoption, we contact foster parent volunteers. If a foster volunteer is not available to foster at that time, we simply try another person. There will be plenty of other opportunities to foster, so there is no pressure to take an animal.
●Foster parents meet with our volunteers in Saginaw, MI (unless other arrangements have been made) to pick up the foster animal to take home. At that time, fosters receive all information about the animal’s condition and needs.
●Foster parents may need to bring the animal to a UAARS REPRESENTATIVE periodically to be examined by our medical coordinator to receive vaccinations or other treatment.
●Once the foster period is over, the foster volunteer returns the animal to UAARS
●UAARS’ medical team will complete final steps necessary to prepare the animal for adoption
●UAARS provides: all veterinary care and medicine for foster animals, plus plenty of support to foster parent volunteers. Other options are available with prior notice.
● Foster parent volunteers provide: time, pet supplies (cat litter, food etc) and a place in their home with lots of love.
