  • The orange paper and clay activity were the most satisfying, other activities were rather vague/boring

  • How credit score works, more about how to establish credit and not wreck it
  • So much valuable financial information that I will be able to apply to my decisions over the years

  • A LOT, out of 6 RA trainings, 3 leadership days and other workshops this was the most valuable by far
  • I learned what I need to know about student loans, building credit and overall financial success

  • Reinforced the fact that a lot of student at Stockton are from varying ethical/social backgrounds yet we are all still leaders, diversity and prejudice
  • “Privilege” has nothing to do with potential
  • I learned a lot about perception and taking it all into consideration
  • It wasn’t really a learning forum, more of a discussion based interactive forum (which is better)
  • Some people are more privileged
  • How destructive stereotypes can be, but that we are not defined by them, not all people grew up the same

What did you learn as a result of participating in the Networking Luncheon?

  • Different personalities, a lot about professionals
  • Information about graduate school
  • The importance of friendship
  • The RA’s never seem enthusiastic about being here and 95% of them stood off to one side of the room and didn’t attempt to “network”, things not to say, how to network, meeting different people in their respective positions
  • I learned the 10 tips for “working the room”, I met with a few guests that were very interesting, opportunities for volunteering which may lead to jobs
  • Network as much as possible, that one of them could be a potential boss
  • I talked to a graduate student about education that helped with the future to plan my career
  • Nothing I had no one in my field, need more careers
  • I made connections that were both within Stockton and also outside in the community
  • Don’t pick and choose, it’s okay to start off at the bottom
  • How to approach people you can potentially learn from, ability to go up and start conversations with new people, smile and wave

What suggestions do you have to improve the Networking Luncheon?

  • There were too many service project leaders and no one in my field,
  • My compliant is about a former alumni who had some very negative things to say about academic programs here and students’ motivational levels
  • Personally I would have liked something more related to my career choices, like publishing or teaching and there seemed to be a lot of repeat careers, more speakers with broader fields
  • I would not change anything, but have more majors here to talk about careers, get more career paths available, to expand on the visitors
  • Have one representative per major at Stockton, I would like more people from the scientific community
  • I felt there was not anyone here for me to talk to, what about crime majors?
  • More chairs to sit, more fields, more chairs, more diverse groups,
  • More selection at lunch, no more spinach

  • Guests were polite and informative
  • Leave up the slide with the professional staff’s information
  • Students were bunched up rather than networking, more diverse alumni (science majors please), more topics of conversation and ideas for breaking the ice.
  • Students were focused on either eating breakfast and not doing the stations or eating lunch and not talking to the community partners. The networking should be separate from lunch because again, everyone wanted to eat and not focus on networking!

How do you plan to utilize the information you learned as a result of attending the Day of Leadership?

  • Networking future events
  • I plan to use the contacts I met to get internships or job opportunities

  • Setting a clear career goal, I will certainly use the resume building information

  • How to pick the right graduate school, how to manage a school club organization, what to do after graduation (guidance)
  • learning how to obtain and reach a future career goal, more topics on leadership and an ice breaker
  • Similar topics for future professions and life after undergraduate school
  • How to get Companies to support you with a new idea or research topic
  • Where to begin looking for jobs you may want (networking, skills to help find jobs)
  • Connecting with future employers, Computer Science workshops, leadership exercises, interactive exercises life building communication skills, allow time to visit more than one workshop for each session
  • Maybe specialized more towards majors/schools, leadership in athletics, more financial information- this session should be offered at other workshops (such as RA training)
  • Nice schedule of the day- not as much wasted time as the one last semester, applying for graduate school: steps, writing personal statement, etc., interviewing skills, more finance advice, economy needs better financially literate leaders.
  • All the sessions sounded great so maybe we should have a third session so there are less options in each session and a chance to go to more sessions.
