The Evans School Review is an annual online peer-reviewed journal that publishes multidisciplinary research in public policy and management at the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs. As an exclusively student-run publication, the Evans School Review strives to highlight innovative research and novel ideas that work to strengthen sound public policy and management and influence the current dialogue around policy issues of interest.

Positions will be selected by the current editorial board, per faculty advisor approval. Election results will be shared on or before Friday, October 11.

Available Position Descriptions:

Managing Editor / Responsible for administrative duties (schedules staff meetings, takes minutes at meetings)
Manages the events calendar (including deadlines for the publication process)
Manages the ESR email account – responds to emails as necessary, forwards emails to other officers appropriately etc.
Overall logistics coordinator with Evans School and UW Student Activities Office

Maintains Calendar
Blog and Content Editor / Works to ensure a variety of public policy interest areas and article types are represented in the submissions pool
Works with the Editors-in-Chief to develop and adhere to selection criteria
Communicates with authors during editing and review process
Manages blog, including recruiting blog writers, fielding questions, and ensuring quality of submissions, with editor-in-chief
Senior Editor / Manages submissions for publication
Manages recruitment and training of staff editors
Oversees editing/review process including fielding questions from staff editors, maintaining deadlines and ensuring a high-quality review process
Coordinates the assigning of articles to editors for review
Manages review process – keeps track of where articles are in the ‘review pipeline’
Communicates edits to authors and ensures authors maintain revision timeline
Director, Online Journal and Multimedia / Manages and updates online journal website
Creates and manages blog website
Assists authors and editors with website submissions
Work with Style Editors to edit and publish online journal
Style Editors (two positions) / Manages style and format guidelines
Copy edits (light edits for grammar and spelling)
Formats articles for print
Most work done in Spring Quarter
Helps senior editors when needed
Director of Online Journal and Publications (one position) / Manages and updates online journal website
Manages blog website
Assists authors and editors with website submissions
Works with Style Editors to edit and publish online journal
Director of Marketing and Publicity (getting the word out) / Oversees solicitation of submissions, publicity, and circulation
Responsible duties pertaining to external/UW relation
Liaison with ESO
Branding and Marketing
Works with Director of Electronic Publications to ensure the web-site content matches branding scheme.
Section Editors / Coordinates group editing sections
Assigns papers to staff editors according to interests/specialties
Staff Editors
(25 positions) / Attends a training seminar during fall quarter. This seminar ensures consistent methodology is used in editing submissions to the Review
Receives submission assignments from the Senior Editors throughout the winter quarter (with the potential for some work in the fall); review and comment on submission in the manner detailed during the fall training;
Available to receive any necessary resubmissions of your previous assignments
