What programs North Shore Dance Academy offer?

We have an extensive program at NSDA that spills into other areas besides dance. Although dance education is our specialty we are expanding into other artistic venues as well to create a complete program for the entire family. Being involved in artistic expression is a wonderful tool for any person. It allows you to be creative in many ways, build confidence and show healthy self-expression. Listed below are some programs we offer.

Recreational classical dance program:

A great program for students who love to dance and meet new friends while enjoying many other extra-curricular activities as well.

Ages 3-7: Tap/Ballet Combination class. Offered one hour a week. ½ hour per subject. Students wear white tap shoes, pink ballet slippers and a leotard and tights any style or color

Ages 7-12: Tap/Ballet/Jazz Combination classes. Offered 1.5 hours a week ½ hour Per Subject. Students wear Tan tap shoes, pink ballet slippers, tan jazz shoes and a leotard and tights any style or color(form fitting shorts may be added for tap and jazz class)

Middle School Tap/Ballet/Jazz/Lyrical. Same attire as above. Classes expand in time gradually to accommodate more skill.

High School Tap/Ballet/Jazz/Lyrical: These classes are an hour long and can be taken alone or together depending on the desires of the student.

Intensive classical dance program

Ages 7 and above:

This program is designed for students that have chosen to make dance their preferred after school Activity. These classes are mandatory in attendance and follow a year-long class curriculum as well as rehearsing several days and hours per week.

Dancer Within Program

Dance is for everyone! We have a wonderful program for children that may be differently abled. Our Dancer Within program is going into the third year and the students in it have become best friends and have had great progress while having a blast. This is a one on one class. Each dancer has a buddy. If you know anyone that may benefit from this class please give them this information. We will now be offering 2 age groups

Adult Program

Dance is not just for kids! We have an adult program as well. When this program was designed 10 years ago it was really just a hope that some of our dance moms might be able to have a night out and do something for themselves. The program was drop in and $5 per class. 10 years later much as changed! The program grew, not to just our dance moms but to women all over the community who wanted to dance. Either to continue what they learned as a child or to start brand new with something they always wanted to do. One thing that has not changed is the fact that it is still drop in and $5 because we are committed to adults fostering their love in dance as much as the children do. We have Tap, Ballet/Contemporary, Jazz and Zumba.

Hip Hop:

We offer a large Hip hop program for dancers at NSDA. They may choose to take these classes alone or in addition to their classical dance program. These classes are divided by age groups. The attire is comfortable clothes that they can work out in(protecting knees from floor work) and sneakers that will only be worn inside the dance classroom

Musical Theater

This class mixes, voice, acting and dancing. The students take a hands on approach and are involved in designing and executing the skit work that is learned and performed each week. This class is divided in age groups of ages 4-6, ages 7-10, Middle School and High School. This will now be a September –May program for maximum progression. If your child is interested in the Arts and being a triple threat this is a great addition to their classical dance program. Private voice lessons available upon request.

Art classes

Not to be confused with arts and crafts this is a traditional art class involving, drawing, painting, media work etc. Start your portfolio young. Divided by age this class will be offered from ages 4- adult. The progression of the class will be noticed in the order of projects that the students will create. We are excited to be offering this new program to our NSDA class offerings.

NSDA Family Fun Programming

We will be continuing to offer our family fun programming to your children. The Family Fun location will be open Tuesday-Friday 3:30-6:30 and Saturdays upon your advanced request. We will offer our instruction in Arts and Crafts, homework help, Fun through physical activity, reading programs etc. The cost for this program is $10 per hour.

Or you may choose to become a NSDA Family Fun Member

A Note from Miss Tammy

We want you and your child's experience at NSDA to be a fantastic one. We value your time and recognize that you are spending money with us as well and want you to feel that both have been well spent. Dance Education is our specialty but we also want you as parents to be happy with the life lessons that we are a helping to teach your children. They(and you) will hopefully make lifelong friends within the NSDA walls. We take our job as dance educators and role models very seriously. We appreciate your help in keeping the atmosphere at the studio positive and encouraging to everyone that walks through the doors. We appreciate your help in redirecting negative conversations within the NSDA space. Together we can raise some pretty special people....not to mention some very talented dancers.
