Important information about TMSCA meets

Dear Parents,

I am trying to make signing permission slips much easier and more convenient this year! I have one form for all the TMSCA meets that we are planning to attend this school year.

The Kirby Math/Science Team will be competing at all the meets listed on this permission slip. Each meet has a competition test for Number Sense, Calculator, Mathematics, and Science (as shown on the times listed). Students choose what competition test they would like to enter. Each test that a student enters cost our team $5 entry fee. Kirby pays these entry fees for the students who sign up. For instance, if a student takes all 4 tests, the team pays $20 for that student. Students need to consider very carefully which contests that they are interested in entering so that we don’t pay for tests that he/she does not want to take. I must send in our registration form about two weeks before each meet, but usually the school hosting the meet will let us make adjustments or substitutions a day or so before the meet.

Please look over your child’s schedule and see if they will be able to attend the meets on these dates. Sign the chart next to the meets that he/she can and plan to attend. If an emergency comes up and your child cannot attend, let Mrs. Seman know as soon as possible so that we can cancel those entries.

I will send out a confirmation e-mail before the meet so that you can check to see if your child is on the list. If you have any changes, you can e-mail the changes.

I hope that this form will make it much easier to enter the meets all in one form! It will only work if you look at the dates carefully and mark them on your calendar. Also, you will need to send any changes as soon as possible.

Of course this will also depend on your child’s grade/behavior in their school classes. We reserve the right to dismiss any student for low grades or inappropriate behavior.

Extras!!!! – The meet on November 7 will include a tour of the Whiteside Museum in Seymour. This museum has fossils that have been found in the Seymour area and will be a great opportunity for our team to visit! The meet on November 21 will include a tour of the place called “Air Tractor” where they build airplanes that are used for agriculture. This is a great opportunity to get an inside look at a working factory.

I am looking forward to showing what our team can do this year at all of the meets on this list! We are so proud of this group of awesome students!

Information on the UIL competition will be coming as soon as I know when it will be. This year, we will compete at the Vernon District meet in the spring.

Please feel to call or e-mail anytime that you have a question or concern!
