I understand that the CT Bar Institute, Inc.(CTBI) is a not-for-profit voluntary organization and that the CTBI holds seminars for the purpose of educating and providing practicing lawyers with up-to-date information in various areas of the law.

I further understand that the CTBI records each educational seminar and offers the recording and materials of the seminar to those who register and cannot attend. In addition, the materials are offered for sale by the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) Member Service Center and on the CBA website.

I give the CT Bar Institute, Inc. permission to record my presentation and copy the materials I have prepared for the seminar entitled ______to be given on ______.

The CTBI also has my permission to distribute, at no charge, my portion of the recorded seminar and materials to legal service organizations that serve the poor. The CTBI has my permission to list the materials and recorded seminar for sale on the CBA website, in periodic promotional mailings to the members of the CBA, and in periodic promotions to the lawyers in Connecticut.

I further agree that all materials I submit to the CTBI are either authored by me or I have obtained the explicit right to reprint and include in materials to be offered for sale. Proof of this explicit permission must be submitted with the materials prior to publication. Examples of sources requiring a right to reprint include cases found on LexisNexis and Westlaw, as well as traditional sources, such as books or periodicals.

I will not submit any materials for duplication of which I am not the author or do not have the rights of ownership. I agree to this with the understanding that the CTBI will not edit my work except to remove portions that may be in violation of copyright law or those that divulge a privileged communication or are in violation of another’s rights or against public decency. I understand that I retain the copyright to these written materials and by my signature give the CTBI permission to use them for the educational purposes as listed above.
