o NWSC Meeting 1-14-13
◦ Superintendent's Report
◦ 5 Essentials Survey – 6th, 7th, 8th graders – Teachers and optional survey to the parents which the district did not give out. Will go out sometime in February and only affects 6th graders here.
◦ Transportation – requested bids to outsource for bus drivers – but district will continue to own buses and staff mechanics. District will also still keep Transportation Director. Any savings would not be seen for a couple of years.
◦ CoGats – Not all kids in district take CoGats – only top 25% based on map scores. Local district level ranking will be different because of this. Look at national ranking.
◦ Board of Education election - April 9th – Three incumbents and one person previously on the board along with five new candidates. Four open positions. NWSC – hosting a candidates forum at 7:00 p.m. on April 2nd at Sundling.
◦ Late Start/Early Dismissal – survey out for this. If late start- working on some sort of child care, assemblies or park district programs options. Use of time will be administratively directed for the staff. FYI -School year – 2013-2014 last day of school for the year will be a full day. NW Cook Region/Dist. 37 Report.

o Parking lot – going well
o Read to Connect - Read 140 extra minutes of reading log from January 5th to February 1st will earn – Family pass for a varsity basketball Fremd game- February 5th
o Learning from Sandy Hill – District now required that all building is locked until 6 p.m. – Events that happen during the day will have a police liason at the door and badges provided. No longer student door holders at lunch recess.
o MAP test results – winter math sometimes dips due to timing of tests. More of a check to see where the kids are at.
o CCSD15 school survey – district results are posted on the district posted.
