Players of People’s Postcode Lottery award £200K to Whizz-Kidz for second year running!

For the second year in a row, Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have awarded Whizz-Kidz £175k, in order to transform the lives of disabled children in Great Britain. In an announcement made last week, the players will also be awarding Whizz-Kidz an extra £25K, bringing the total to an incredible £200K for 2015.

This money will help Whizz-Kidz provide disabled children and young people with vital mobility equipment, opportunities to meet and have fun, and training to help them gain skills and lead active lives.

Ruth Owen OBE, Chief Executive of Whizz-Kidz, said: ‘We would like to thank the Players of People's Postcode Lottery for their continued support, without which we could not reach as many children and offer them the opportunities that lead to a bright future.

‘Last year the funding from Players of People’s Postcode Lottery helped us to carry out life-transforming work, by supplying equipment and skills training that disabled children need to achieve their full potential. We are incredibly grateful to all of our supporters and look forward to working with Players of People’s Postcode Lottery in the future.’

Clara Govier, Head of Charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said, ‘The supported charities set to receive this extra £25,000 provide vital services across Great Britain and internationally, so I am delighted that this extra funding will enable them to progress with their work. As the number of players continues to increase the amounts awarded to charities will only continue to rise. On behalf of all the supported charities I would like to say a massive thank you to all the players. Your support makes such a difference to so many lives.’

In 2014, Whizz-Kidz provided over 2,700 opportunities to disabled young people in the UK but there are an estimated 70,000 disabled children who still need our help. Whizz-Kidz sets them free by providing the right mobility equipment and skills to build their self-esteem, confidence and aspiration.
