Attendance

Players at ALL levels are expected to attend ALL team activities, including but not limited to: tryouts, spring break practice, team building activities, games, etc. If a player will be absent, the player needs to be in contact with a COACH or as a last resort one of the CAPTAINS. You can email, call, or text to inform us of your absence. Please DO NOT schedule driver’s Ed, doctor’s appointments, dentist appointments, hair appointments, etc. during practice or game times.

Excused Absences:

  1. Coach MUST be notified prior to the day missed. You can call, text, or email this communication.
  2. Documentation must be provided for school related absences or tardies. I strongly encourage you to complete this make up tests, quizzes, homework before school or during a study hall.
  3. Examples of excused absences- Doctor’s appointments, school related activities, church, illness, or injury (must provide documentation from a training staff member communicating why you cannot participate or watch practice).

Unexcused Absences:

  1. If you fail to notify a coach of your absence or arrive without documentation of why you are late or missing practice.
  2. Examples of unexcused absences- hair appointments, no show, detention, spring break, other sports, summer team practice, etc.

Tardies:

  1. Players are expected to be at practice on time. The player will have their shoes on and glove ready to go. Practice will start at the team’s start time. That start time is NOT the time players arrive to the field. It is the time practice activities begin.
  2. Buses do not wait for late players. If you miss the bus, you will not start. If you miss the bus and fail to show up at the game, it is an unexcused absence.

Players that are tardy for unexcused reasons will have the following consequences:

  1. The whole team will condition.
  2. If this happens 3 times, you will sit a game.
  3. Happens more than 3 times, you will have a meeting with Coaches and your parents and face possible dismissal.

Players who miss practice or game for unexcused reasons will have the following consequences:

  1. Miss a game.
  2. Miss a game and a meeting with Coaches and Parents.
  3. Conversation with Coaches and Parents about future status with the program, possible dismissal.

Players that leave early for unexcused reasons will have the following consequences:

  1. Miss a start.
  2. Miss a game.
  3. Demotion and conversation with Coaches and Parents about commitment to the program.

If a player misses more than ½ day of school, she is not allowed to participate in either that day’s practice or game. Please be in school!!

Spring Break Practice Policies:

Players are expected to attend practice over spring break. The softball season is only 2 to 2.5 months long. We can’t afford to take a week or more off and fall behind other programs.

Consequences for missing practice or team activities over spring break week:

If you are on B Squad or JV team:

  • You will sit one inning for each practice or team activity missed.

If you are on the Varsity team:

  • You will sit one game for each practice or team activity missed.

***Only exceptions to these consequences are school related trips. If a player is going on a school related trip, they must send an email to Coach Seiger with an itinerary for the trip, purpose of the trip, and contact information for the lead chaperone or organizer. This must be taken care of prior to the start of the season.
