PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The primary purpose of this post is the effective coordination and promotion of the agenda of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Agriculture and Food for Development. The post-holder will also undertake policy research activities at the Natural Resources Institute in the same subject area.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Team Specific:
·  To administer the APPG for Agriculture and Food for Development.
·  To promote the agenda of the APPG in UK, European Union and international fora.
·  To communicate developments in Food and Agriculture for Development to parliamentary members and stakeholders in the APPG using traditional and modern communication methods.
·  To support members of the APPG in promoting the agenda of the Group.
·  To organizing public and private meetings at Parliament.
·  To liaise between the chairs of the APPG and the Stakeholders Group
·  To organise Inquiries for the APPG
·  To write reports from APPG enquiries
·  To organise mainly overseas visits for MPs and others.
·  To make contributions to speeches as required by members of the Group
·  To raise contributions to support activities of the APPG.
·  To undertake policy research at the Natural Resources Institute on issues on agriculture and food for development.

Effective administration of the APPG
Effective communication with Members, Stakeholder and Wider Community.
Effective organisation of meetings.
Ensure that APPG reports are written to a high standard and produced in a timely manner.
Funds raised for the effective operation of APPG Group.
Contribution to fund raising for research activities.
Produce reports, publications and policy briefs

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Experience and skills
Proven experience of providing on-going support to organisations involved in advocacy, lobbying and campaigning
Ability to research, distil large amounts of complex information, and prepare briefing materials
Ability to interact with people at a high level inside and outside the organisation and build good relationships
The ability to work flexibly, picking up and dropping issues as required, and to work to deadlines
Research/policy experience relevant to the post
Excellent writing skills for a wide range of audiences
Qualifications
A degree (or post-graduate qualification) in a relevant subject area
Other requirements
Willingness to undertake short-term international travel and occasionally work unsociable hours as required by specific circumstances / Desirable
Experience and skills
Relevant experience in subject matter of the APPG.
Proven knowledge, experience and understanding of working UK parliamentary processes, with relevant government departments and donor communities
Ability to motivate/inspire others with ideas
Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Innovative, energetic, solution-oriented approach to work
Computer literate (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook, Powerpoint)
Qualifications
Higher degree or equivalent experience in a related field
