ANNOUNCEMENTS

Update on OPR-We will still input the first grading period scores into OPR as we have done in the past. We will be moving to LAUSDMax for the second reporting period. Progress reports, including scores for social skills, and at least 3 comments per child (1 language arts, 1 math, 1 social skills) are due to M. Pierce on Monday. The office will print the final reports for you after they have been reviewed.

Teacher-Initiated Transfer Program- Applications for teacher-initiated transfers are now available online at http://www.teachinla.com, click on HR forms for more information. Applications may be filed at any time and are active from October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010.

Drug, Alcohol, Tobacco & Violence Prevention- It is required that all elementary classroom teachers provide instruction on drug, alcohol, tobacco and violence prevention. Please use your “Too Good for Drugs” and “Second Step” curriculum to teach these subjects. Curriculum was ordered for those teachers who needed materials. Contact your HEP coordinator, I. Villalba, if you have any questions.

Online Attendance-Teachers must verify absences online as soon as the student returns to class. Please send notes to the office if reason for the absence is returned 4 days after absence. When the LAUSDMax system is down, please hold onto your list to enter the attendance later in the day when you have a chance. If your internet is down or your computer crashes, go ahead and send your attendance to the office so they can input it.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE – Please put a note in with your attendance cards every Friday morning when your class has had perfect attendance for the week. Three weeks of Perfect Attendance equals one hour of planning time for you and an ice cream treat for students!

Math Updates-The Princeton review is now CORE K12 and the new website is https://lausd.corek12.com . Please save this website so you can enter your students’ quarterly math scores if necessary. For information, research, and updates about math instruction, visit http://ld3math.edublogs.org/ and http://twitter.com/ld3math/ the new MIG is aligned with the enVision math series and is available for download at http://LD3MATH.EDUBLOGS.ORG/ENVISIONMATH-MATERIALS/ 4th 5th grade students must use answer sheets for quarterly assessments-do not allow students to write in test booklets.

UCLA DOCTOR OF EDUCATION (ED.D.) IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Applications are now being accepted for UCLA’s Ed.D. Cohort for Fall 2010. Educational Leadership Program (ELP) is seeking applicants who are committed to improving educational practice. Each cohort embarks on a three-year experience that they do together in a student-supported environment with outstanding UCLA faculty and expert practitioners. Since 1993, more than 265 students have graduated. Many are helping to improve educational outcomes as administrators within school sites and district offices. Each cohort of 25 – 30 students includes a variety of accomplished educators. Courses are scheduled for one evening per week and Saturdays.
