Opinion/Argument Essay Checklist
Check off each item as you place it in the folder. You must have all of the following:
______1 frayer with the word opinion/argument essay in the middle (10pts)
-This is the one we watched a few commercials with also.
______1 opinion/argument essay graphic organizer outline (10pts)
-It says Persuasive Writing up top.
______5 green four squares (40 pts)
-They must have SEE method (double stamped) on them to get full credit.
-Answers from SEE method need to be rewritten in a complete sentence on the back of the paper.

______Revising and Editing Checklist (20 pts)
Check off this list as you complete it on your typed letter draft
______a. No Same Sentence Starters
· Draw a box around every 1st word in each sentence.
· Make sure no boxes are the same in each paragraph.
· Move or add words to change the starters. Remember-savage porcupines can always annoy people.
______b. Pronoun Problems
· Circle he, she, it, they, we, you, us. Use a different synonym before using a pronoun.
Example-My dog is a terrier.
Okay-It is energetic.
Better-My pet is energetic.
______c. Adding Adjective Clauses
· Draw a star above the relative pronouns-who, whose, which, that, whom.
· If you don’t have at least 2 relative pronouns in the entire essay, you need to add them.
· They can NOT be the 1st word in a sentence.
______d. Transition Words
· Highlight transition words and phrases
· Example-First, next, another, also.
· If you need more words, look them up on the internet or on your provided pink paper.
· You must have at least 3 transition words or phrases per paragraph.
