PLATOON ATTACK ORDER DAY 3 & 4

General Situation: You are the platoon commander for ____ platoon, Bravo Co 1st Battalion, 4th Marines. You are currently located IVO 794727 (Mouttown). Over the past few weeks the Company has been conducting continuous combat operations against the CRF and MRA forces in the country of Quantico in the CentralianHighlandProvince. During recent diplomatic negotiations, the country of Montanya has agreed to cease providing military support to the CRF and close its borders and stop providing refuge for withdrawing Centralian Forces. With this loss of support, the Centralians have decided to withdraw and commit the remainder of their conventional forces into key urban areas in the country of Quantico in an attempt to gain popular support and maintain their control and influence in the region. The CRF initially began infiltrating buddy pair and team sized elements into the cities of Mouttown and Combattown, and as they continue to gain the support of the local populace their total force strength continues to increase. More recent intelligence indicates the CRF are infiltrating the capital city of Hogan, Quantico in buddy pair or fire team sizes elements in order to continue to have some kind of influence on the political stability in the nation of Quantico. During Phase I of Operation MOUT FEX, we destroyed many of these smaller elements in their safe houses through the use of widely distributed squad size attacks, however with the support of the local populace the total strength of the CRF insurgency has continued to grow in the city center of Mouttown. We will now begin PHASE II of Op MOUT FEX, where we will maneuver with platoon size elements against the entrenched CRF in the city center of Mouttown.

Orientation. Our company sector is the small suburb of Mouttown IVO 794727 and is bordered by LZ Kiwi to the south and MCB 5 from the northeast to the southeast. Assume that the tree line is just a continuation of the city of Mouttown. To the south is the city center of Mouttown, an area with a population of 300,000. Access to the city center through our company sector can only be achieved by transiting along MSR Tampa which runs through our company sector from north to southwest between buildings 12, 13, 18, and 6 on the west side and 14, 3, 4 and 5 on the east side. An adjacent unit boundary makes buildings 1 and 16 and the areas to their SE off limits. Additionally, all tree line south of Phase Line (PL) Apple are off limits due to adjacent unit boundaries. Lastly, there is a working sewer system that humint has confirmed runs between some of the buildings in the town.

Situation.

Enemy: Intelligence collection assets have identified a platoon reinforced IVO the southern portion of our company sector GC 794727. Satellite imagery suggests CRF insurgents have moved into the area and have begun to fortify defensive positions along MSR Tampa and appear to be blocking toward the north. We suspect they are blocking for the left flank of a CRF company sized force located in the city center of Mouttown. Any follow on attack on this company of CRF will have to transit our sector first. The CRF are wearing desert fatigues and carrying small caliber weapons. Their automatic weapons capabilities are most likely limited to 7.62. Because of our previous support of the former Shah of Quantico, the CRF are armed w/ US small arms to include SMAWs, AT-4’s, and limited night vision assets. Indirect capabilities include mortars and limited artillery. They retain the ability to reinforce with platoon size elements that are currently located 30 minutes away in the city center of Mouttown. EMPCOA: They will most likely defend this town at all costs IOT await reinforcements from the south.

Friendly:

Higher: O/O, 1/4 destroys the enemy in Mouttown IOT deny the CRF units the ability to control the city. FRD: Enemy threat and ability to affect the political affairs of Mouttown eliminated and US forces in a position to resist potential CRF attacks from the northwest designed to retake the city.

Adjacent: Company A(+) ME conducts a forward passage of lines through Company B’s sector and destroys the CRF Company (-)(+) IVO the city center of Mouttown IOT eliminate the CRF’s ability to affect the political affairs of Mouttown.

Company C follows in trace of Company A to conduct a forward passage of lines through Company B’s sector and destroys the CRF Company (-)(+) IVO the city center of Mouttown IOT eliminate the CRF’s ability to affect the political affairs of Mouttown.

CAAT Platoon screens to the east of Company’s A and C after attacking through Company B’s sector IOT prevent CRF reinforcements from interfering w/ the ME attack on the city center of Mouttown.

Supporting: 81mm Mortar Platoon located IVO LZ Goshawk GC 783740 in GS of the Battalion POF A, B, CAAT, C.

Mission. Co B (SE) O/O destroys the CRF platoon located at Company Obj A IOT allow follow on forces to move freely along MSR Tampa into the city center of Mouttown and destroy the CRF Company located there. BPT block to the south IOT prevent CRF reinforcements from the north from interfering w/ the ME attack on the city center of Mouttown.

Execution. Cmdr’s IntentThe enemy's COG is their defensive positions. Their CV is their inability to reinforce in a timely fashion. I intend to exploit this by conducting simultaneous platoon attacks using rapid offensive actions and combined arms. FRD: Destruction of the CRF platoon and their ability to interfere w/ the ME attack on the city center of Mouttown.

Concept of Operations:

SOM: The Company will conduct a simultaneous attack with one ME in the center and two SEs (SE1 operating to the east, and SE2 operating to the west) attacking from the north to the south. The SEs will move to their assault positions in the tree line and will support the ME in gaining a foothold by isolating building 13. Once the ME has gained a foothold in building 13 the ME will isolate to the southeast and the southwest for the two SEs so that SE2 can gain a foothold in building 11 and SE1 can gain a foothold in building 14. Once all three platoons have reached PL Apple the ME will continue to isolate to the southwest and the southeast IOT allow SE2 to seize buildings 9 and 11 and SE1 to seize building 15. Once the SEs have gained footholds in buildings 9, 11 and 15 respectively they will isolate building 17 and 18 to the south for the ME. On request from the ME the two SEs will suppress portions of buildings 17 and 18 IOT allow the ME to seize building 18. Once the ME has seized building 18 it will have reached its LOA (PL Banana) and it will isolate to the south for the SEs who will continue the attack south. Once the SEs are south of PL Banana they will continue to support each others maneuver until they reach the LOA at PL Cranberry. Once the SEs reach the LOA they will coordinate w/ the ME and establish a perimeter defense.

FSP: The purpose of my FSP is to suppress the enemy IOT gain a foothold and close with the enemy. Each platoon will submit 2 targets NLT one hour prior to attack.

Tasks:

'1st' Platoon (western platoon). SE2. O/O destroy the enemy west of ME platoon’s boundary along the western side of buildings 12, 13, 17 and 18 and then along the west side of MSR Tampa in the southern sector of Company Obj A IOT allow follow on forces to move freely along MSR Tampa into the Mouttown city center. BPT block to the south IOT prevent CRF reinforcements from interfering w/ the ME attack on the city center of Mouttown. 1 MMG squad and 1 assault team attached effective immediately.

'2nd' Plt (center platoon). ME. O/O destroy the enemy west of MSR Tampa within 2nd platoon’s boundary and seize the government center (building 18) in the southern sector of Company Obj A IOT allow follow on forces to move along MSR Tampa into the city center of Mouttown. BPT block to the south IOT prevent CRF reinforcements from interfering w/ the ME attack on the city center of Mouttown. 1 MMG squad and 1 assault team attached effective immediately.

'3rd' Plt. (eastern platoon). SE1. O/O attack to destroy the enemy east of MSR Tampa in the southern sector of Co Obj A IOT allow follow on forces to move along MSR Tampa into the city center of Mouttown. BPT block to the south IOT prevent CRF reinforcements from interfering w/ the ME attack on the city center of Mouttown. 1 MMG squad and 1 assault team attached effective immediately.

(4) Weapons Plt. Detach 1 MMG squad and 1 assault team to each platoon. Establish a 60mm mortar firing position IVO LZ Pelican GC 808729 in GS of the Co with POF to ME, SE1, SE2.

Administration and Logistics

Admin:

CASEVAC Plan: During the attack, Platoon Commander establishes Casualty Collection Point behind attack for all urgent surgical medevacs and must provide a route to bring in medevac vehicle. After consolidation, we will bring up the medevac vehicle up MSR Tampa to the 6 O’Clock of the Company position. Contact Company GySgt with route and location to coordinate CASEVAC. Company CCP is located at the ORP.

EPW Plan: Platoon Commander establishes EPW Collection Point in respective sector. Contact Company 1st Sgt with number, location, and route to coordinate pick up. Company EPW collection point located at LZ Sparrow. Utilize 5-S's and a T.

Logistics:

One DOS for chow, water, and ammunition.

Chow, water, ammunition drawn IAW Platoon Commander timeline.

Additional requests for equipment or supplies will be submitted through the Company GySgt.
